Listen extra carefully when they read back to you your order. They’ll get it wrong and blame it on you if you don’t catch their error. My wife and I had an awful experience here. We ordered the plain French toast. When asked if I wanted bacon or sausage I said sausage. We also ordered the “Mea Kanu” omelette, which is basically a veggie omelette. When we received our food it was a meaty “shark” omelette and I had bacon instead of my sausage as a side. When I brought it to the hostess’ attention she said that she read the order back to me and I said ok. Granted, I wish I had caught the mistake when she quickly repeated the order back to me. This all could have been avoided. I get that. But I know what I ordered isn’t what she wrote down. “Mea Kanu” and “The Shark” are 2 totally different names for an omelette. I know I said Mea Kanu because I had to read it carefully to make sure I was saying it right. And the words sausage and bacon are very distinct sounding as well. Long story short, the hostess and the manager/owner (not sure which) wouldn’t switch out the omelette because they said I didn’t correct what was read back to me. I’d have to pay another $20 on top of an already ridiculous price for breakfast food to get the omelette I requested. Terrible customer service, blaming the customer and not taking responsibility for writing down the wrong order. I guess they figure who cares, since I’m heading back to the mainland and they’ll just wait for the next sucker tourist to take advantage of. How hard is it to write down Mea Kanu Omelette and plain French toast with sausage, especially when you as the worker are more familiar with the menu and their names? And blaming it on the customer instead of taking responsibility for not writing it down right to begin with and not righting the wrong? Stay away from this place and spend your hard-earned...
Read moreAnuenue is a must when you're on Kauai. We came back and had breakfast a second time, it was so good! You'll have to wait in line to place your order, but once you order, your food comes out pretty quick. Chris, at the register, is so sweet & friendly. Even with the long line, she stays calm and is efficient in taking orders, getting drinks & delivering food. We had the Tow-In & Tube Ride French Toasts, both were so tasty. My husband doesn't really like coconut, but he admitted the Haupia was delicious. My son ordered the Riptide (I'd otherwise say it is a sharable portion, but for a 15 yr old boy, he devoured the whole thing). If you like Kalua pork, you'll enjoy it! And it comes with the Overnight Oatmeal. With all of the other amazing dishes, I don't think I'd order the oatmeal by itself, but it's a nice light finish to the Riptide. My parents tried the Kahlua Pork Fried Rice. The pineapple is a nice compliment to the savory flavors of the rice and pork. Now to my favorite, the Surfer Bowl (a sharable sized portion)! The veggies are delicious, it has all the meats (bacon, kalua pork & bacon) and there are jalapeños, which add the perfect amount of spice. The white cheddar cheese sauce completes the dish. The scoop of avocado is worth it, as it is a generous portion for just $2 more. I will miss this dish when I go home! The only downside to Anuenue is the seating. There are only two picnic tables, but people are pretty good about vacating the tables once they're done eating. There are plenty of benches to eat at if you don't mind holding the container on your lap. I can't wait to return to...
Read moreWhile it is anticipated that you will spend more than island average in Poipi, this venue sets a new standard in duplicity. The restaurant itself is a stall. Seating is limited to two picnic tables. If it is raining, you are definitely dining elsewhere. The online menu is no longer offered by the new owners. My wife ordered the Tow-In plate (2 runny scrambled egg, 4 average size strips of bacon, and 2 pieces of french toast). I ordered a side of french toast - $11 for one Hawaiian bread toast slice. The food quality was that of a mediocre cafeteria. My wife had hibiscus tea - good. I ordered coconut water - $5 for a Kirklands juice box. The only areas of praise I can give are convenience of location and promptness of service. The photos others have posted are representative, but they are way overselling the experience. It just ain't authentic. You are vacationing in paradise. Seek the gold standard in quality set by so many other local Kauai...
