SERVICE: everyone was super nice but Malia our server was on it. Pretty sure she could read our minds because she brought the us stuff just as we were thinking we would want it. The place was packed and running her tail off but was so chipper (but not in a fake way). FOOD: we had the black bean pork tacos w/ avocado. Huge portion and we asked for more salsa for the dry chips. Was very satisfying. Also split the taro burger – husband wanted this sandwich but after one bite didn’t finish his half. I forced it down just because. It tasted good but the texture was like wet mashed potatoes. Not at all firm enough to be a burger-like substitute. Won’t be ordering that again. The couple next to us ordered the Korean Goyza and those looked amazing. We were tempted but the chips really filled us up. DRINKS: the pina coloda didn’t have a floater – rather it was floating in dark rum. It wasn’t overly sweet so it was delicious! Hubby got the mai tai and it too was heavy on the rum, low on the sweet – so we enjoyed that one too. BOTTOM LINE: we’ll be here for a week, and we will be back! Oh, the live music was excellent too!

The staffs here were amazing. They were all very welcoming, always smiling and had great vibes all around. I had made a reservation a week in advance for 7:45pm. We were a group of 6. The restaurant closes at 8pm but they never rushed us. The restaurant is located next to the Poipu Beach Athletic Club. Once parked, walk towards the pool to the restaurant. They still had some live music till 8pm. We ordered a bunch of cocktails and beer. I thought the majority of the cocktails we had were on the weaker side, so I’d stick with the beers for next time. For food we ordered a bunch to share: pork sliders, ahi tacos, basket of sweet potato fries, taco salad with added mahi, and ahi poke. Everything was delicious. The portion size was generous too. Highly recommend the ahi tacos and sweet potato fries.

Five Stars for Cabana Bar & Grill: A Hidden Gem in Koloa! We had an incredible experience at Cabana Bar & Grill! Even with a large party of 7 on a busy night, Andrea was so friendly and accommodating on the phone when we called last minute at 7:55. Once we arrived, our server Gabrielle took amazing care of us. The food was absolutely outstanding – the best meal we've had on our entire trip! We were surprised by the quality, considering it's a poolside restaurant. The BLT wrap was fantastic, and the Mahi Mahi burger was a huge hit as well. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Cabana Bar & Grill totally exceeded our expectations. If you're looking for delicious food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere, this place is a must-visit!

This restaurant MISTREATED PEOPLE OF COLOR while I was there. If I could give zero or negative stars I would. I and another family of color tried to place an order for nearly an hour and we were finally screamed at and told we were not welcome when we complained. While we sat on the lounge chairs near the pool, I kept making eye contact with the servers as well as asking multiple servers as did the other family while we saw them continually serve other white people. I walked up directly to a server and asked if I could place an order. The waitress got agitated and said there's just one of her and she's busy. Surprised by the rudeness but not wanting to overreact I said I understand and thought it might help to just come up and place the order at the restaurant so she didn't have to come to us. She then said it was almost an hour for food to show up, suggesting we should leave and I didn't hear her say that to anyone else she was serving(except that other family of color). I told her we were ok waiting and she just walked off without taking my order. I saw her continue to take orders and serve other white people with smiles so I moved to a table where there were others getting served to test my theory. She still continued to ignore me and kept taking orders and serving the tables around me, continuously asking them if they needed water, utensils, more food, drinks Finally an hour after waiting I went into the restaurant and asked for the manager. I was pointed to a woman named Melissa, although her real name is Kristina Kegley Colburn. I shared my concern and asked why I was not being served. She made a bunch of excuses like the waitress is hard of hearing. I told her I spoke to her directly and she was still taking orders from others. Kristina said the waitress was busy, was a friend of hers, etc etc. She never apologized. When I said I didn't understand and it didn't make any sense to me, and asked if it had anything to do with my skin color since everyone being served was white. She started screaming at me, gesticulating wildly, pointing with hostility, huffing and puffing, and making a scene. She screamed that I wasn't welcome here and she wasn't going to serve me. I said her response did not seem appropriate and suggested it might be true. I've never been to an establishment where the employees or manager ever yell or scream at customers especially in response to a complaint. Interesting way to respond to someone that is feeling ignored and discriminated against. My husband came over asking if she was yelling at me because he could see her across the pool and I nodded, and he turned to her and she started yelling at him too and told us to get out. We asked to speak to the owner and she screamed into our face that she was the owner which we learned was not true after asking the Poipu Beach Athletic club attendant(who's property they are on). They said the owner is not Melissa but Kristina. So she chose to misrepresent herself, make excuses, take no responsibility for the poor behavior of her servers, and then scream at my husband and I when we tried to complain. This restaurant is disrespectful, discriminatory, and has no idea how to run a business. For your sake, please don't go here. As we left I saw another server doing the same thing to another family of color. We went to Pietro's and they were welcoming and fast with live music, and the food was...

My wife and I just came from The Cabana in Poipu. The food was fairly good, and we commented that we would be back. That was until the bill came.

My wife ordered a burger that came with some sort of "jelly" spread. My wife asked for it on the side. When it came she tasted it and decided it was not for her. so she asked the passing bartender for some mayonnaise. Which he promptly brought to the table.

I had a basket of Fries, that came with a side of ketchup (Which I dont eat)

When the bill came we were charged an extra .50 cents for "Extra Sauce"

We asked the waitress, and she said she had argued with the bartender about it, but since he was her superior, there was nothing she could do. The extra sauce was the mayo my wife asked for.

When my wife confronted the bartender, he told her it was standard practice across the island to charge for such things!

I am sorry, but thats BS! This is our third visit to the island, and we understand that there are extra charges for things, but when you order a burger, things like ketchup, mustard and mayo should and have always been free at EVERY OTHER LOCATION! Not to mention it was not disclosed on the menu that there is an extra charge for CONDIMENTS!

Be warned if you eat at The Cabana, as you will be nickel and dimed (or should I say fifty cented) to death on any condiments you require!

As a person on the Kauai Forums wrote, “Pretty tacky of the restaurant, IMHO. The only places Iʻve run into that charge for extra sauce are fast-food restaurants. If thatʻs the comparison The Cabana wants, well...”

Owner, we dont care if you reply. We have never been charged for condiments for a $13 burger. Anywhere or on our 3 trips to the island, including this one. We return to the island every 2 years, and will not return The Cabana to be charged for condiments. Thanks for lunch, but we will be eating at other places that dont charge for condiments on our burgers. We will also let anyone we know about the additional charges should they decide...

Got sat in the way back at a table that was way too small. We had a toddler and the high chair had no safety straps. Before we ordered anything for us, we ordered our toddler chicken tenders. 50 minutes later, our little guys was starving and we had to beg for the chicken tenders. The adult food came out in a quick forty minutes, but still before the tenders. We were offered water refills but never received them. The beer I was served was an open can with no offer for a glass and the can rim was dirty and disgusting. I had to point it out to our server which I had to track down in the restaurant. After that she never came back to our table. She never apologized or even acknowledged the tenders took fifty minutes. I had to locate another server for to-go boxes and the check as our little one had no more patience. We packed up ALL the food and was presented a full-priced check. When I again mentioned how long the tenders took, the “new” server said she was the manager and took off the tenders from the bill. She acknowledged that she was very short staffed in the kitchen. And asked us to try them again. She was nice and apologetic, but sorry-one and done for us. We are frequent visitors of the island and this has to be the most disappointing meal we have ever had. We are down to earth, understanding people…but the Cabana was pretty trashy. For the same price we had the most amazing meal for take out from Anuenue Cafe nearby. Five...
