Nestled in the vibrant heart of Kauai, Bangkok Happy Bowl Thai Bistro and Sushi Bar offers a delightful culinary experience that tantalizes the taste buds with its authentic Thai flavors. My visit to this charming bistro was a journey through the rich and exotic tastes of Thailand, with standout dishes that left a lasting impression.
The star of the show was undoubtedly the Yellow Curry. This dish was a masterpiece of flavor, combining the perfect blend of spices and coconut milk to create a rich, creamy sauce that was both comforting and exhilarating. Each spoonful offered a burst of flavors, perfectly balanced between sweet and savory, making it a memorable highlight of the meal.
Accompanying the curry, we indulged in the unique Poipu Mojito, a refreshing twist on the classic cocktail. It complemented the meal with its fresh, zesty flavors, adding a tropical touch that enhanced the overall dining experience.
A word of caution for the adventurous: the Lava Edamame. This dish was a fiery treat, living up to its name with an intense heat that surprised us. It's definitely a choice for those who love a spicy challenge.
We also savored the Pad Thai, a classic Thai noodle dish that was executed to perfection. The balance of sweet, sour, and salty flavors, combined with the fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked noodles, made it a delightful part of our meal.
In conclusion, Bangkok Happy Bowl Thai Bistro and Sushi Bar in Kauai is a culinary gem that offers an authentic taste of Thailand. The Yellow Curry, in particular, is a must-try for anyone visiting the bistro. Along with the unique Poipu Mojito, spicy Lava Edamame, and the classic Pad Thai, it makes for an unforgettable dining experience that leaves you...
Read moreFirst off, DO NOT COME HERE. I wouldn't even put 1 star, I would put 0 if I could. Absolutely UNREAL TERRIBLE customer service! I usually never write reviews or want to be a "Karen" but this was insanely frustrating to not.
Walking into the restaurant, my dad and grandfather were told to "hold on" in a very rude and impatient way, which then waited 20 mins just to be helped by the host. This lady had also hung up mid conversation on my mom, when she was trying to confirm when our take out order would be ready.
We placed our phone order at 7:24pm and were told our food would be ready in 15 mins. We then went on our first trip to the restaurant at 8:00pm, to be told our food wouldn't be ready for another 30 mins. So before going back again to get our order, we called the restaurant, to be told we have to wait ANOTHER 30 mins for the order & the restaurant also closed at 9:00pm.
We got there 5 mins before they closed, since they told us to come back at that time, and the food STILL wasn't ready.
Finally we got the order and got home, to find they didn't even give us 3 items we ordered and got charged for.
Please, DO NOT, tell customers the food will be ready in a short to decent amount of time and have us wait a full 2 hours before getting EVERYTHING. In addition, with the inconvenience, some apologizes and remorse would be helpful for an unreal experience like this. ZERO remorse & a VERY smug attitude to US, as customers, bringing YOUR restaurant business. No help trying to make it even with some discount, no gift card or no help to make this even with coming back 3 TIMES. The host/workers that were working was 7-9pm on Sunday 07/17/22.
She told us to write the negative review instead of making it right, so...
Read moreJanuary 2022 update: Gave this place another try and though the flavors are a bit better they've lost some traditional dishes from their menu. They might have had new owners in the last 5 years and even a new chef. I ordered Tom Yum, Papaya salad, and they no longer had beef salad so i ordered a beef stir fry dish. The tom yum did not have coconut milk and was not sour enough but the good news is it wasnt overly sweet. The papaya salad was good but more on the sour side. Surprisingly they have a Thai spicy level and it was decently spicy unlike all other places. The beef stir fry was ok. I know its during the pandemic and its Hawaii but the price to proportions is a little absurd. $16 for papaya salad that could fit in my palm. The beef stir fry was $22 and it had maybe 2 oz of beef. Tom Yum was sampler sized. I would not say the presentation, flavors, ingredients were worth the premium price. Improvement in flavors and that would have brought it up to 3 maybe 4 stars but price vs proportions brought it back down to 2 where i had it originally.
Had the beef salad, tom yum soup, and papaya salad. I frequently eat thai food, am of asian descent, and have eaten at many of my Thai friend's houses. The food here that day was too sweet. The beef was supposed to be char-broiled but it was not. It was boiled and did not smell fresh. It ranks as one of the worst if not the worst. Also the level of spiciness is american spicy not asian spicy. Medium spicy was not spicy at all. Not a negative but jus an fyi when you order here. If you like to eat spicy dont go medium or below. Overall i was not very impressed w the quality...
