Our experience at That Indian Place was extremely disappointing, particularly due to the abysmal service we received. As a family of nine, we understand that accommodating a larger group can sometimes be challenging, but the way the staff handled our situation was beyond unprofessional—it was downright rude and dismissive.

From the moment we arrived, we felt unwelcome. Rather than making any effort to ensure that our family could sit comfortably, the staff crammed us into a very tight and unsuitable space. It was clear that the seating arrangement was not designed for a group of our size, and this immediately made the meal uncomfortable and unenjoyable. When we politely asked for a better arrangement or even an explanation, the staff responded with short tempers and a lack of basic courtesy. Their dismissive tone and unwillingness to accommodate our needs were shocking and deeply upsetting.

The cramped seating made it impossible to relax or enjoy the meal. Instead of having a pleasant dining experience, we were left feeling squished and completely overlooked as customers. It was incredibly frustrating to see such a lack of effort on their part to make the experience even remotely comfortable for us. What should have been a special meal for our family turned into an ordeal, and it was all because of the rude and indifferent service we received.

On top of that, the overall atmosphere was ruined by the negative attitude of the staff. A restaurant’s atmosphere is just as important as the food, and unfortunately, That Indian Place failed on both counts. The lack of consideration, combined with the unprofessional behavior of the staff, made it impossible to enjoy what should have been a simple and enjoyable outing.

The food was so delightful that it became a highlight of our stay in Kauai.

A special mention goes to the customised version of chole that the owner recommended to us. As regular visitors, he treated us to this chef's special dish, which was absolutely phenomenal. We loved it so much that we ordered the prawns version of the same, which was equally exquisite.

Regarding the portion sizes, while some may find them smaller compared to the mainland, it's essential to consider the quality and the context. The ingredients are mostly imported, which explains the cost. But the quality and taste of the food are unparalleled. In my opinion, this is the best Indian food I've tried so far in the US.
