Little Fish Coffee Company is one of those spots we almost always go to when we are staying at the Marriott across the street. It is a popular breakfast spot and the line is always long, usually a 20 to 30 minute wait just to place your order. It looks daunting at first but they move fast once you order and food usually comes out in about 5 to 10 minutes which is impressive given how busy they always are. This time I ordered a bagel with their sun dried tomato spread and it was excellent. The spread had great flavor and the bagel itself was toasted perfectly with a nice crunch. Bagels with their homemade spreads are always a go to for me here. I also ordered the Spartan smoothie which was packed with protein and spinach and still had an awesome flavor that I was really happy with. My sister in law got the banana colada smoothie and added strawberries which made it sweeter and a nice balance with the pineapple. We both also had their matcha lattes and those were great too. Smooth, not bitter, and a really good balance of matcha and milk. The food and drinks here are consistently solid and one of the reasons we keep coming back every year. The one downside, and really the reason I cannot rate it higher, is the staff. Almost every time we go the people at the register or handing out the orders seem rushed, abrupt, or even uninterested in customers. I understand they are busy and only open in the mornings until about midday, but sometimes it comes across as unkind or dismissive. We have seen a few altercations with other customers over incorrect orders and it has even happened to us in the past which is frustrating. The coffee was actually really great (I feel like the coffee overall in Hawaii is watered down and tastes like watery milk with flavoring but little fish actually tasted like coffee) and the price wasn’t bad either compared to other breakfast places. However, I did have an issue with the service. I asked for an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and when I originally received my order, there was no vanilla in the coffee (well it definitely didn’t taste sweet at all). I went back up to the window to ask if they could put some more in my coffee or if that’s how it was supposed to be. The guy helping me at the window said he would put some more in my drink for me then the girl at the register yelled at him and said something along the lines of I didn’t order any flavoring in my latte and flavoring cost extra, so not to give me any. At this point I was confused because I ordered first then once I was done, my husband told the cashier that he wanted the same exact thing, but with normal milk instead of oat milk, yet his had vanilla flavoring in it and mine didn’t. So her rationale didn’t make any sense. I stood there awkwardly for a few seconds, then the nice guy at the pickup window ended up, just taking my drink and putting vanilla in it. once the vanilla was put in my drink, it tasted really great! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever received in my life!! I actually left this place in tears which no food institution has ever managed to do to me. Also the first time I felt compelled to write a review. Well done Little Fish!

I placed an online order for 7:45 am and they had most of the order prepared but made me wait 30 more minutes for the one cup of coffee included. They responded rudely when I asked if part of my order was misplaced. While waiting for 30 min for the coffee, a chicken came down on my food ( I’m not kidding, there are chickens everywhere here!) and knocked my bowl onto the ground. The staff then started yelling at customers telling them to “hang onto their food” and refused to replace my order with the food strewn all over the ground. Had they just had my order ready at the time I ordered it 30 min prior then this never would have happened in the first place! If it means anything, the customers waiting at the window all looked at me and said with a horrified look “we saw the whole thing and also will NOT be back.” Glad I’m not the only one. Save your time, money and aggravation and buy a coffee and fruit bowl elsewhere. I’m used to waiting in line, but the purpose of this review is to highlight the TRULY APPALLING customer service who lack empathy and consideration for their paying customers who keep them...
