Escape Kemah — Attraction in Kemah

Sunday may 7 2017 around 4:30, I showed up with my girlfriend whom got tickets to celebrate my birthday may the 4th.. I'm a huge Star Wars but. So this was supposed to be fun. this room was packed. 10 people total. Unfortunately the rest of the group was a click that we didn't click with due to them not being organized and not really sharing clues. Just the out of my way and oh you don't know what your doing attitude.

Both of us had to put up with everyone of the other group not sharing information, not communicating and not trusting each other or us.. My girlfriend tried to work on something that was kinda time consuming deal only to have the entire group disrupt or efforts and ultimately take over the task cause they realized we were on the right track but they couldn't follow through with it in time due to too much bickering amongst themselves. They would not shut up to hear the hints given... Last 5-10 minutes my girlfriend and I just sat by the exit waiting to leave... we had a very horrible experience... my girlfriend and I just left, didn't even care about the job no anymore. didn't stick around for the pic, mainly wanted to keep my girlfriend from crying for something that terrible.

it was clear that we were sitting for a while not being involved at the end. The only thing the guy said when he came in to let us go was "sorry"..

It's gonna be a while before I try this place again.. and when that happens, I'd much rather have a group of my own ppl.

I can't hold this establishment responsible for this groups behavior, but they didn't try to make it right. At $25 and hour of life wasted, ya might wanna make sure we enjoyed the experience.. that didn't happen here. That's why I'm not happy here..

Here's another fair point... you do have emails... which was how the thing was set up. This entire deal where you are trying to make it look like you wanted to make a situation better, is just for show..

Just for clarification when we book originally, there was only two other folks... I have no idea when the rest showed up. So we didn't book into an 8 person group. It was just two which then became a full house.

I challenge you to put up or shut up... since you clearly "know who we are". Which is doubtful at best, then why not reach out in private to make a bad experience into a good one. I have no problem switching this and say ya know what... they stepped up and made it right.. your choice. It's cool either way..

After an exchange of email, I think perhaps this group is trying to rectify the situation. I have no issues with giving them a second try if they do right by us. They had offered money straight, but as I feel kinda bad doing that as I believe a person should be paid for their time, I countered with a redo. They keep the money we try the place again. Haven't gotten much back sense. we will kept...

I am sad to say that this family owned business has no sympathy if your family has experienced a severe tragedy to where mother is in ICU near death. One of the rooms were booked not even 2 days and after talking to the owner Courtney I offered to provide evidence of pictures or hospital call verification she was not willing to make a full refund. Rather she said I'm sorry and emphasized on they are a family owned business and cannot make any exceptions to there policy of 50% refund or rescheduling the event with additional 25% charge. WOW! How do you say how considerate of her to make such a heart warming offer! I am beside myself trying to understand how they could not rebook the event in 3 days or how this one event would break them so hard that they had to shut the doors indefinitely if they would have provided a refund. I had an experience where my grandmother passed away and I had to cancel a wedding venue. I was given full refund of which is way well over what an escape room costs due to the unexpected death in the family. Please do not give a place like this any business, a business who has no heart or consideration for family...

I've done a LOT of escape rooms, and this has been my least favorite so far. Maybe my expectations are too high. We did the Saw room, and it was disappointing. It's all gen0-gen1 stuff, which means lock after lock, after lock, after lock, etc. There were only two real "puzzles" to solve. The first was overly simple, and the second made no sense at all and had to be explained by the gamemaster. Without giving away too much about the room, everything else is basically just a pile of stuff/keys, and finding which one fit the next lock. It took time, but involved very little thinking.

Some of the equipment was old, and the locks would get stuck, even if you had the right combination.

Also, the place has no central A/C. Each room has a little swamp cooler, and the whole place was HOT.

Three stars because the people we were with still had fun (they were new to escape rooms), and the owner was nice. But if you're an escape room enthusiast, probably better rooms to...
