Let's start with the fact that this event is a HUGE RIP-OFF. Clearly it's targeted at Illinois chumps, who think that this tourist trap, rivals the weekend farmers market in Madison. It does not. Not even close. If you're smart, you'll avoid this chaotic & overpriced bazaar. Unless of course you're a dullard, with money to burn. Per the proverb . . . . . " A fool and his (or her) money are soon parted."
That said; the larger issue involves the filthy mess, left behind, by its (so-called) vendors. I've contacted the bazaar's ringleader, Ray Forgianni, in reference to HIS mess. Not surprisingly, my call was ignored. Clearly, he's collecting (fill in the blank) from his minions to look the other way. The biggest offender (but not the only) is someone who is peddling food at the south end of āPlace de Douaiā, adjacent to the marina. Whoever sets up in that area is cooking with gallons of dirty oil and allowing it to spill over, onto the pavement. You can see the evidence afterward . . . . big, disgusting blobs of food grease, spread everywhere. Clearly, when the bazaar ends; they count their cash & scurry away. And the rest of us have to forever contend with their disgusting, residual filth.
If a responsible person were in charge of this āmarketā, they would not allow this disgusting and careless behavior to occur. But I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. If you read through the list of HarborMarket directors, it's a who's who of Kenosha's nefarious cabal.
So thanks Ray, for looking the other way and allowing YOUR transient dealers, to trash our (potentially) beautiful lakefront. Every time I see and smell that disgusting oil spill and all the resulting garbage, I think of you. Well done!
Oh, and one more negative . . . . NO DOGS ALLOWED! This is a new rule (although left over vendor garbage is still allowed). So leave your best friend at home. Sorry pet owners and once again; thanks Ray!
Argumentum a fortiori . . . .
Wow, seems I hit a nerve. Good!
The oil spill / greasy mess (one of many), should never have happened in the first place. Pay attention and control YOUR peddlers.
Its quite obvious; "vendor" prices are unusually high. A generic āprice pointā statement is easily fabricated and unproven.
Point taken counselor . . . . Although you have no case; I removed references to (alleged) kickbacks. It was was merely an assumption, based on your curious and blatant lack of oversight. Vendors taking advantage of and trashing a beautiful public space, angers me. As it should, you.
I don't patronize your market. Why would I? It's chaotic, overpriced and dirty. I merely walked thru once, out of curiosity. Once was enough.
Additionally . . . . I've noticed that your weekend oil spills have been relocated to the adjacent turf areas, resulting in greasy dead grass. That's your solution? Nice try. Always remember: You and your peddlers are GUESTS. Act responsibly & show...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of the most amazing markets in the area to visit! Thereās absolute something for everyone here! If you have never been to the Harbor Market and you are a fan of fresh produce, organic meats, eggs, fresh flowers, bakery products, popcorn, lots of other amazing food and drink offerings plus crafts, soaps, sauces, and jewelry you definitely need to check it out! Located by the harbor and museum campus it is a great experience every Saturday morning from 9am-2pm from mid May until mid October. Some of my favorite items are the amazing sweet corn, the very fresh variety of produce vendors, Elsie Maeās pie shop desserts, empanadas, smoothies, and the gigantic bouquet of fresh flowers! The prices are reasonable and the vendors are super friendly but not pushy. It is a amazing gem and we enjoy it! If you are in Kenosha on a Saturday the Harbor Market is definitely worth checking out!!! It will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were partway through the market. A lady came (she had what appeared to be a hand made namdtag) up to our handicap party (with service animals), and told us we had to leave since animals were not allowed. We informed her they were registered service animals. She insisted we leave anyway. So we left. On our way out we saw a lady with a Yorkshire terrier walk past the very same woman, and nothing was said about the Yorkshire (no indication that the dog was a service animal). Very disappointed in what we experienced at this event. Needless to say we will be posting this on social media, and other sites.
UPDATE: Found out that the dog (comfort animal) owner, and the lady that confronted us...
