The rundown:
Sazzy B offers a warm and intimate setting, with both table seating and a large front bar. Fine cocktails and artfully crafted cuisine, including weekly and seasonal specials. Live music most nights after 8p.
The food: Local daughter and renowned chef Mary Radigan has helped to turn Sazzy B into the finest restaurant in Kenosha. With an education from the Culinary Institute of America, and with past service for renowned restaurateurs such as Danny Meyer (New York), David Chang (New York), Charlie Trotter (Chicago), and the team at Alinea (Chicago), Radigan's food is outstanding. Her recent menus offer plenty for foodies to drool over, while also delivering food that's accessible enough for little ones or adults who like more standard fare. The kitchen also offers weekly and seasonal food specials, like a unique $10 pasta bowl every Wednesday night, or fresh soft-shell crab this past spring. The food here is the star of the show.
The bar: Bar service includes local and craft beer, a variety of great wines, and the best cocktails in town. Though there are no beers on draft, your bartender/server will gladly pour you a pint from the many offerings next door (at sister restaurant, the Buzz Cafe). Great selection of whiskeys, including several single malt scotch, a large menu of martinis, and a carefully selected list of wines. The bar staff here is the best in town--often dressed to the nines, they're extremely friendly and they know they're bar well. Just ask, and they will be happy to help you to select a cocktail that you will enjoy. My favorite: the house-aged negroni cocktail.
The music: Sazzy B offers a variety of live music that sets the tone for an enjoyable night out. Mostly featuring local performers, the staff choose their entertainers as carefully as their menu items. The vibe is often soft and subdued, with the occasional funk that music aficionados love. Featured genres are often jazz, blues, folk, and...
Read moreThought would give them another chance. Went back again, we're having drinks at the bar with my date having a very pleasant time, ran into other friends at the bar, very positive experience so far, we're going to order some food also but was asked to leave because they allegedly had reservations at the bar. This is the first time I've ever been to a place and was asked to leave when drinking expensive alcohol and would have eaten at the bar, the Host also said there was a two hour wait in the dining room and it was half empty! It's a mind-boggling business plan to kick out paying patrons, was very embarrassed with my date. Always thought it was first serve situation rather than asking someone to leave with a phantom reservation in place is not exactly the best business model to follow... So we walked a few stores down to Wine Knot, we're immediately served and had a delicious meal!
The most disappointing service can think of in recent history! It was a nice night, a friend of mine and I sat at a table outside and the hostess woman bumped us, because she said the table was reserved, so we moved to the end table. Nobody ever came out to take our order, so went into the bar area and stood for several minutes and nobody came over, now went over to another opening on the other side and waited several more minutes and then the bartender said she didn't have any glasses, continued to wait and she waited on several other people even though they're were glasses that she could have washed... Finally gave up and sat back outside, by the way the table that we were bumped from no one ever came and sat down for it. So basically was there for just under an hour and was never asked if we...
Read moreThe best food and craft cocktails in Kenosha. Hands down! My wife and stopped in on 3/9/18 to celebrate some great news from work and to try the new menu. It is always a good idea to get a reservation for Thursday night as they typically pack the place. A major draw is the live musicians. They had a jazz group last night. Great ambiance. One of my favorite things about Sazzy’s is their seasonal menu. It forces me to try something new, as I typically order the same thing I liked last time. While I am not always fond of change, I have never been disappointed. This time we split an appetizer, we chose the Sourdough Crostini - Smoked poblano chimichurri, Tuscan kale, sunny side up egg, parmesan, and cracked black pepper on toasted sourdough. For dinner we shared the 24 ounce pork chop. You don’t want to miss this dish. Bacon and bourbon fig marmalade on top and underneath a bed of duck fat grits and a sweet braised collard greens. Absolutely wonderful! The other favorite service that Sazzy’s offers is their dedication to craft cocktails. You can always choose a great beer from their impressive beer and tap list, but for dinner at Sazzy’s I usually choose a cocktail. These folks are serious about the art of making a great cocktail. You can order your favorite cocktail, order from their menu of signature drinks or even be adventurous. On the drink menu, you can choose your favorite spirit, your style (spicy, sweet, dry, spirit forward, etc.) and the type of glass. This is where the bartender gets to really show their creativity. They will create you a drink based on your criteria. If you like craft cocktails and trying things new, you must order this...
