Disappointed. I ordered a falafel sandwich and out came a large italian beef bun with the four little falafel balls and hummus that was already soaked into the enormous bread. I went to the counter and said that I was confused because falafel sandwiches usually come with pita bread (they had pita bread since they sell Gyros sandwiches). The girl smiled at me and said, "that's just how we do it here." I told her that I wish they put it on the menu that they don't do it pita style, because that's how it is everywhere else and what you would expect out of a falafel style sandwich. I asked if she can give me a pita bun and I'll just put the innards into the other bread. She said "sure, but you'll have to buy the bread for about a dollar." What? A falafel sandwich is supposed to be served on pita in the first place. Oi. I even tipped them beforehand, which I regret now since they were only willing to make it right with more $$$. Also, they must not change out the frying oil very often because I had bad heartburn from that meal, and I only had a few fries with the sandwich. My son did not like his octodog. The fries and dog were only warm by the time he...
Read moreI visited for the first time yesterday and will not be returning. First off I ordered a gyro meal and an Italian beef meal, I was initially overcharged (he added an extra Italian beef meal) supposedly refunded me (still don’t see a refund on my account) and recharged me for the correct amount, however he did not apologize nor did he offer me a receipt. I then received my meal as a to go order even though I said it was for dine in. I opened the bag and the fries seemed fine, however both sandwiches were not edible, the gyro meat was so burnt it was hard as a rock and rubbery, this was for all of the meat in the sandwich. My partner attempted to eat the Italian beef, however the bread was hard as a rock. We had to return both sandwiches and request for them to be remade, we did not receive any apology for the horrible quality of food we were served. Another note to add is they charge to add cheese and peppers to your sandwich even though they don’t tell you that when asking if you want to add it (cheese should be automatically added). It was extremely disappointing, especially since we love visiting restaurants downtown but will not be...
Read moreI have been living in Pleasant Prairie for the last 4 years & love going downtown to Lake Michigan for the views & atmosphere. I have seen Trolley Dogs multiple times & have wanted to try it so I did today. My girlfriend is a Professional Chef so we decided to go to TD to try it. First off, my gf ordered the 2 dog combo & asked for no tomatoes or relish. The dogs had tomatoes & no mustard. The receipt read, no mustard or relish. Shame on me for not reading the receipt first. My order was the Italian Beef combo meal. OK, my gf's hot dogs were not Vienna, surely. Her hot buns were not steamed & hard on the edges as a rock. My beef sandwich was more bread than beef & very undesirable. I have previously lived in a Chicago suburb for 40+ years & had my share of beef sandwiches. This was not the place for one. The fries were ok, however, the side of cheese sauce was tasteless, & fake cheese sauce. Bottom Line, this is not the place for hot dogs or Italian beef sandwiches. The pizza puff was fine. Difficult to mess up a frozen item & drop it in hot oil & time it & pull it out. Definitely a poor experience for us both. Will not...
