My family and I have been coming to this store weekly for over 7 years. We came here from Deerfield beach Florida, where we were spoiled for choice with exotic pet and reptile stores. We brought all of our pets with us, and had a hard time finding the supplies we needed at the local big box stores. Here The staff is always very helpful and friendly, and don’t think that they are rude just because they aren’t friendly and a “southern” over friendly kind of way. They are very knowledgeable about the animals they take care of, and many others…they are serious about the animals and not to just make a quick sale. It is very nice that the staff will take the time to talk to the customers while still being aware of everything that’s going on around them. If people complain about not getting help on the fish room, it’s probably because they don’t realize there’s a doorbell on the entryway that you press to get help if needed.. The fish guy named Ben is especially helpful, caring very much about fish. He will explain what is needed if you are going to set up a tank- and he will be honest not just to please a customer- but to actually help care for the animal the best. He has helped me set up 3 tanks, and they have all been a huge success because he took the care to tell me what was needed for each enclosure and the species I was putting in there. I even found a Congo puffer Fish there recently, and it’s a dream specimen of mine!! It took a long time to set up the tank and get everything right in order to bring him home, but I was patient and did it right with the help of the staff there. He is doing so good, and I love watching him every day going about his business. They gave me the right information, exactly to take care of him and watch him thrive in his new home with my family. It’s nice that a business centered store will explain what is good for the animals as well, sometimes they don’t do that at big box pet stores. That’s one advantage of coming to a local fish store where people actually care. There was also another guy that worked there named Jesse and we knew him for several years, he was the best with the fish too, and I wish he was still there. Nick is really great too, all the fish people are just wonderful. Kiera Is very knowledgeable about the reptiles, and she has been there for years as well. Whenever I have a question about anything reptiles, I will always try to find her. If she doesn’t know she’s totally honest, And will try to help you find the answer, but so far she knows every question I have had even about the exotic reptiles in our care. I just can’t name everyone and all of the things everybody has done for us over the years, but we just love this store so much and we always appreciate coming in here to get the best supplies at great prices… it’s like family here.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

This is by far the worst pet store I have gone into. My partner and I went in on 6/2/24. The store itself looks very nice. Clean floors, neatly stocked shelves etc. When it came to the care of the animals though, was a whole other story. We first went into the fish section where we noticed multiple dead betta fish. (Photo added of one of the dead bettas). They had clearly been dead for at least several days to a week as there was a white film over them. A lot of the other tanks filtration systems either did not seem to be on or working. Some tanks were also severely covered in algae and clearly had not been cleaned for some time. The reptile tanks also looked very dirty. The hamster cages had a very strong odor to them indicating it must have been several days to a week since they had last been cleaned. Another upsetting thing is that they keep the rabbits and guinea pigs in these large glass enclosures with what looked like a homemade top made out of mesh and pool noodles. There are no kind of locks latches or signs telling people to not open them. We witnessed another customer open the top trying to pet a very clearly stressed rabbit. The rabbit was running around the enclosure trying to get away from him and seemed to be very afraid. I get being short staffed, but it seems to me that management or someone needs to step in and make sure these animals are properly cared for. It seems that they prioritize making sure the shelves are stocked versus the wellbeing of the animals in the store. This is extremely disappointing and upsetting for a privately owned pet store. I hope they significantly change or get shut down.

I am sad to share that the baby bunny we got on Aug 20th died suddenly yesterday, leaving my 6 year old daughter absolutely heartbroken. We had “Chewy” for almost 6 weeks (5.5 weeks). We had never had a bunny before; we did our research after falling in love with the baby bunnies at summer camp. Looking back I he was sick, but I wasn’t putting the symptoms together bc most of the time he seemed happy. He had good appetite; but he did seem to move erratically at times, and he would slightly shake sometimes. There was never a change in behavior, so I know he was sick when we bought him. We are a week past the “healthy animal warranty “, but it’s not even about the money. Watching my kids cry yesterday as their first pet who was so sweet, lay limp in our arms was the worst thing we’ve experienced in their childhood. I know that with life comes death, but it’s also the responsibility of a pet store to give warning signs and help first time pet owners understand their new pets. We got a good 6 weeks with him, and I know he was so well cared for, and that probably extended his life ajd there was nothing we could have done.,.but it doesn’t take away the hurt. I would like to know if other bunnies around Chewy’s time period have died…RIP to our little fur ball Chewy…

DONT WASTE YOU MONEY OR TIME GOING HERE. If I could give a 0 I would. It all started with me finding a box turtle. I then came to the store to get things for it. The girl that helped me claimed she knew everything about them so I said I want to buy everything it needs, she helped me with a 15 gallon aquarium, bedding, food and a water dish. That's it she says. I then spend 185 on all that, get home and did further research and it says 40 gallon not 15 gallon minimum for a box turtle. I then called the store and spoke with a guy and I asked if I could exchange the 15 gallon for a bigger one and he said yes. I then bring back the 15 gallon and come to find out he had already left so I then dealt with the manager and he said they had to order one. All the while I had to put the turtle in a 5 gallon aquarium I had at home. He did give me a little discount but said it would come by Thursday, 2 days later, I said fine but please call me when it comes in. Thursday comes and no call, then Friday and no call, so I called and a girl answered and she said let me check to see if it's in, she then came back and told me it was, I told her my frustration so she put the manager on the phone and he was very rude with the way he talked to me. I then went to pick it up the next day and the female manager was very short with me but I still bought the aquarium as I really needed it along with a heat light, the heat light was the right light bit the bulb she sold me was 75w when later on I found out I needed a 100w. Bulb, these people are rude, they don't know anything about reptiles or what they need, they are not helpful at all and I will never do business with them again. The manager i dealt with on the phone Friday evening said "I don't know what your problem is" "it's here, we've been too busy to call you to let you know it was in" in a very nasty tone of voice, very poor...

I used to absolutely love Denny’s Pet World and their top quality selection, but recently have had a few poor experiences here.

A few months back I purchased a rabbit from them, as I assumed they purchased from reputable, ethical breeders that perform their due diligence, such as regularly testing their animals. However a few months later during a vet check-up, my bunny tested positive for both roundworms and E. Cuniculi- an extremely contagious, incurable, and potentially fatal disease. She has NEVER been outside (other than in a carrier) or come in contact with any other animals. There is literally no other way she could’ve contracted it. When I spoke to the store to share my concerns, the “rabbit manager” told me that was impossible, and blatantly dismissed me as some ignorant first time rabbit owner. Ultimately, they did refund me for the cost of my rabbit, but basically told me that it was not on them and that they would not be informing their breeders. So as a warning to everyone else- DO NOT BUY RABBITS (or other small mammals for that matter) FROM THEM.

On another occasion, the fish room manager told me that he would pay $6 per fish for corydoras I was selling. However, it wasn’t until AFTER he had already taken them and added them to their tank that he told me he would only pay $2 per fish due to their size. If I had the time in that moment, I honestly would have made him net every single one of them and taken them back.

I used to think this store was one of the few locally owned, responsible, ethical pet stores left that truly cared about their customers and animals- doesn’t seem that way anymore. Huge disappointment because I LOVED this store and would always to others.

They still get two stars because they carry some quality products (albeit overpriced), and some of the employees working the floor are very knowledgeable and passionate...
