Finally. The search is over. I have long bemoaned the lack of good South Indian options in the Seattle area. I grew up eating at such restaurants in New Jersey and in the Bay Area, as well as my family's homecooking and the restaurants of my native South India. This restaurant exceeded my expectations and is cemented as my top choice for Indian food. You may walk in and not expect much. The vibe is basic, but the furnishings are comfortable, clean, and welcoming. The staff are all smiles and quick to get you seated (I was in on a Friday evening). The menu has a good variety of options. It's easy to find what you want without feeling overwhelmed. There's a great balance of traditional options along with the restaurant's specials. We ordered a medhu vada, hyderabadi chicken dum biryani, and the KGF Special dosa. The food was outstanding. Great, authentic flavors. I felt like it more closely matched my family's homecooking than the typical restaurant experience - and that's a GOOD thing. Indian restaurants are infamous for using too much oil and grease. There's none of that here. I cannot stress enough - no unnecessary oil or grease was used here to lazily speed up cooking or enhance flavors. This was a very pleasant meal that didn't make me feel unwell or unhealthy afterwards. Prices are great and very fair. Excellent value for what we paid. Finally, the service was awesome. Staff were all smiles, quick, and attentive. Food came out in just the right amount of time - not too quick that I questioned the practices back there and not too slow that I got unhappy. I could tell by the food and plating that there is real effort and pride in the kitchen. I wholeheartedly recommend that you eat at this establishment for a wholesome and traditional South Indian meal. I know I'll be back every week, and I don't like coming to the Eastside very often.

Sunday lunch at KGF. The restaurant ambience is a small cozy tight knit space. Food wise it lacked the umami flavour which makes us want more food, decent taste. Service was okay, not friendly. We had a variety of dishes ordered - Idli, pepper chicken, chicken kotthu parotta, KGF special dosa, Chettinad chicken dosa, Fish curry and medu wada. Medu wada was served without any sambar. We were told that generally we don't serve sambar but if you want it we can serve. I have seen a restaurant serving Idli, meduwada or dosa without sambar. We were served the sambar later after we "Asked" for it. Idlis were super soft. The chicken kotthu parotta and pepper chicken was moist and cooked well, lacking the umami effect. The Chettinad chicken dosa - chicken filling inside was similar in taste to pepper chicken sans the pepper. Sambar and chutneys are delicious... Flavours are spot on, instantly drifting me to Kerala. The fish curry was served without rice, we had to ask for it. Separately ordered idi appam with the curry which was okay. Fish was overcooked. Service wise, one has to make the customers feel at home to understand what's on the menu if a question is asked, that was completely missing and was hostile. We were recommended biryani as we could see the rest of the covers digging in biryani! But if it's the best, you got to convince us since we aren't well versed as the rest of the frequent regular customers were. Going by the reviews for this restaurant I would say passable. Will try their biryani for my next visit.

Visiting KGF Indian restaurant in Seattle is like stepping into a warm embrace of nostalgia, transporting me back to the authentic flavors of India, particularly Kerala, that I’ve missed dearly since moving here. What sets KGF apart is their unwavering consistency. Every dish is crafted with the same dedication and care, ensuring that each visit is as satisfying as the last. Their biryanis are a revelation—aromatic, perfectly spiced, and rich in flavor. The chicken cutlets are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, reminding me of the home-cooked delicacies I grew up with. And the fish curry, with its tangy, spicy kick, is nothing short of mouth-watering; it’s the kind of dish that makes you savor every bite. I have been to a couple events where they did catering it was equally good. KGF has become my go-to spot whenever I yearn for the authentic tastes of home. Whether it’s a special occasion or just a craving for a comforting meal, I know I can count on KGF to deliver. The consistency in quality, the warmth of the staff, and the authenticity of the flavors make it a true gem in Seattle’s dining scene.

If you’re searching for authentic South Indian food in Seattle, this restaurant is a must-visit! The menu is packed with South Indian specials that are bursting with flavor and tradition. The Kerala Thalassery Biryani is absolutely delicious—fragrant, perfectly spiced, and unlike any other biryani you’ll find in the city. Their masala dosa is another highlight, with a crispy, golden exterior and a savory potato filling that pairs wonderfully with their tangy sambar and fresh coconut chutney. They also offer a variety of other South Indian favorites, like soft, fluffy idlis and spicy vadas, which are perfect for any time of day. If you’re in the mood for something hearty, try their Chettinad chicken curry or the flavorful Andhra-style dishes, which bring the heat and authenticity straight from Southern India. The service here is excellent, too. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to make recommendations or accommodate special requests. Whether you’re a South Indian food enthusiast or new to these dishes, you’ll feel well taken care of. With its authentic flavors, extensive menu, and top-notch service, this restaurant has become my go-to spot for South Indian cuisine in Seattle. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the true...
