Sound of Music — Attraction in Kokomo

I dropped in this music store in Kokomo one Saturday and I am so glad I did. I really liked the fact that these gentlemen were friendly, polite and knowledgeable and they did not talk down to me, despite me being a woman on the elderly side and probably not like their usual customers in search of a high-end acoustic guitar. This has not been my experience in some guitar shops I have visited in my 55 years of playing the guitar.

I told the gentleman who assisted me that I was interested in buying a smaller-bodied acoustic guitar, most likely a Martin. He showed me several and did not rush me as I played them. He kindly answered all my questions and gave me some great information about the various models.

Then he brought out a very special guitar - a Martin 00-28 Modern Deluxe. The MD is a great guitar anyway, but this one in particular was stunning, with beautiful silking on the top and a gorgeous bookmatched back. When I played it and heard the sound of it, so full and resonant coming out of that small body, I just fell head over heels in love with it! Although I looked at and played a couple more, I knew that guitar was THE ONE. It cost somewhat more than I expected to spend, but this store has both layaway and several financing options, and these guys made it happen for me so that I walked out and went home with this incredible guitar.

This place has blown ever local music store out of the water. It’s always been a friendly and knowledgeable environment even for people like myself that can play guitar like Jimmy Page at home and then like Bieber in public. Recently I bought my dream guitar, a Rickenbacker 330, and I was slightly disappointed I didn’t get the tone I heard on records from the 60’s. I did my research on why it sounded so lifeless and brought what I could to this store. The moment I heard them plug it in after their surgery on my Rick was a night and day difference in quality. I will never go to another retailer for my musical needs. The owner and employees took their time each time i was in there to not only talk to me but gave me a safe space to find out exactly what i wanted in my own time and answered any and all questions i had. I wanted a telecaster but i wasnt exactly sure which one i wanted. They let me play as many as i wanted to, to find the right one for me. I ended up finding one that was way out of my price range but they have layaway and sure enough they made it possible for me to have something that i know ill have for the rest of my life .
