I grew up in La Habra Heights but moved away several years ago out of state. On a recent visit to my parents, I went to Northgate Market to grab some produce for my bunnies.
My dad had spoken about the new market and how much he liked it since it opened. When I was growing up the first grocery store I remember being in that space was Market Basket. Of course, since then it's been several different grocery stores before it became Northgate. It sat vacant for many years before Northgate took it over. I was excited to see what it looked like inside.
Wow, what an awesome store. The produce section was spectacular! They even had fresh chamomile in their herb section. They also had zucchini flowers which was amazing. The bakery smelt divine the taqueria was fabulous, and the fresh flowers that were offered were beautiful. Everything in the store was so well taken care of it was impeccable.
The staff in the store were friendly, helpful, overall genuinely nice individuals. The woman who checked me out asked what I was going to do with the dill I was purchasing.
I told her that the produce I was purchasing was for my bunnies and she smiled and said she loves to feed her bunnies dill as well. She shared photos of her bunnies and we had a bunny bonding moment. I can't stress enough how nice it is to meet genuine people.
I know I talk about that a lot in my reviews but it's so important because the people who care for and work in a space are putting their energy into everything. When you walk into it you feel it and it's so wonderful to be able to walk into a space that has a high vibration of genuine kindness. That's important.

Read moreVery upser, all of their scales do not weigh correctly! I purchased 6 items from meat department and 3 from produce. I was very curious as to why the meat seamed heavier than the produce, so I weighed the meat on the produce scales and they were an average of a half a pound lighter than the meat scales! I informed the produce employee and he checked all his scales and they were all weighing less but different so all their scales were wrong. He got on the phone and called in the problem. I went to meat department and they re-weighed the meat on a different scale than the one I was charged on and told me they were "about the same weight" meaning his scale was lighter but not by much! How could this be? He also said the scales on the checkout stands were on the same weight line. I went to check out and asked them to weigh everything, all the produce weighed more on their scale, the meat differed but the manager said I could have been looking at the pound on one and kilogram on another! This did not make sense! I ended up just paying for everything as the woman behind me kept yelling at me for taking too long and i was getting extremely nervous so I just needed to get out of there. Needless to say, I will not shop there again but will look to report this issue with the proper...
Read moreNo stars until they fix the cattle gates to provide an easier way out other than through checkstands. I’m concerned about the ability to evacuate or exit the building when these awful green gates don’t provide any reasonable way out of the building other than through an open check stand. Patrons should not be locked in — especially when they don’t end up buying anything. In a safe small town like La habra, I find these gates offensive in addition to feeling unsafe. Aside from being unable to exit for even a regular person who decides not to buy anything (such as deciding not to buy the suspiciously spoiled green pozole I smelled tonight)… I am concerned that if there was an earthquake or fire or other problem causing the power to go out— or a dangerous person in the store— or other dangerous situation necessitating an evacuation—the “emergency exits” are hard for even a normal person to open to evacuate the store— how is an elderly or disabled person supposed to exit, let alone anyone else who is not disabled or elderly?! I’m absolutely...
