We have been season ticket holders for something like 25 years. All but 2 productions we would rate between veery good and fabulously excellent. " The Realistic Jones" was one of those 2. We (4 of us attend together and sit together) decided that the reason for no intermission was so that the audience didn't have a chance to get up and leave before it was over. It's hard to imagine someone seeing this show and thinking that the majority of the people who come regularly would enjoy it. The critic who wrote the article in the OC Register said some audience members laughed a lot. That was not the case on Wed., May 10th. Many of us were shaking our heads as we left the theater. WE have already renewed for next year and will continue to do so as long as we're able to drive and attend. Despite our disappointment in the show (the actors did well - it was the strange dialogue that turned us off), we applaud the people in charge for providing outstanding entertainment a vast majority of the time. A couple of "bad apples" will not spoil our enjoyment nor keep us from continuing to support the theater with our season ticket purchases. And just maybe, we will appreciate the very good...
Read moreWe attended a matinee performance of Holmes and Watson. It's a very intriguing play with a lot of twists and turns. The actors were excellent they kept the play moving and it kept me guessing. So bravo to all of them. The theater itself is mid-size so there is not a bad seat in the house. We sat orchestra right Row C and had a perfect view of the stage. Since it's an older theater the seats are a bit tight and not a lot of leg room. It wasn't too tight for me since I am on the shorter side, but you are close to your seat neighbor. It was a little difficult hearing the announcements about turning off cell phones and another subject that I couldn't hear. Of course you have those people that didn't turn off or down their phones so that was an interruption. But what can you do some people don't have respect for live theater. The sound system for the actors was superb we clearly heard every word. There is a small stand selling soda, water, wine, cocktails and small snacks. Parking was pretty easy we parked across the street from the theater and walked over. Parking is $4.00 M-F, not sure about Sat-Sun. I'd attend another play here and would recommend...
Read moreAfter 40 years of living in Los Feliz and Burbank, and a 'passport' member of the Music Center in Downtown Los Angeles and enjoying the smaller theaters in the Valley, I thought I'd find nothing close to them now living in Orange County. Boy was I wrong. We were introduced to the Laguna Playhouse by OC friends in 2018 nd have totally enjoyed the atmosphere, the quality of the shows and actors, the friendliness of the staff. Their professionalism and stage designs have been exceptional countless times. We have seen a multitude of shows and each time are glad we have developed this relationship with this local theatre, and the other OC theaters. ...
