Love Mr. Trist have been going to see his show every sense he was in his little theater in lake Gen. Love the man love the magician great personality fun entertaining just a wonderful person all the way around as well as Shannon. We have not been there since last year and came up today and were unfortunately very disappointed in the changes. I guess we got spoiled with Mr. Trist entertaining us to the degree that he had in the past however tonight, mixed in with A lower level magician just disappointed us greatly. I think if you're gonna have Slide of hand car tricks and endless Rubik's cubes tricks, maybe hold 2 different types of shows because we were not at all enjoying that part of the show. We wanted to see what we had seen in the past with Mr. Trist and Shannon and the fabulous job they always do however this new edition was not something that was pleasing to us. I think that should be a different type of show may be give people a choice whether or not They want to see card tricks and endless Rubik's cubes tricks and people holding cameras blocking the views and standing in front of the screen it just really brought the class act down To a lower level than we had been used to. We were really disappointed we didn't get to see more of Mr. Trist did not care for the new format at all but we love Mr. Trist and Shannon and just were expecting something different tonight. Left very disappointed. There, you spoiled us,now All we want is you. Mr. Trist, you set the bar very high and we only wish we could just see you and Shannon without any other magician in your show. There's a place for every kind of entertainment perhaps 2 shows can be done separately, it would give people a choice whether or not they want to see if that 2nd magician or not. Thank you for all the years of pleasure you have given us. We love you Misunderstood and understand your goal is to make things even better however it just did not work for us, just giving...
Read moreI took my 12-year-old daughter to her first magic show here while we were visiting Lake Geneva on a nearby camping trip. The day of the show, she didn’t really feel too excited about the prospect of attending since she’s not really a crowds person. This was exacerbated by the fact that we got seated in the very front row, center of the stage…where potential audience participation was much likelier.
Much to her horror, she was called upon to participate as a volunteer…her face broadcast on the big screen and all! 😅 But she pulled through it like a pro! After the trick was over, Tristan gave her a prop from the stunt as a souvenir, something she’s now proud to have as a memento.
Suffice it to say, as I glanced over at her from time to time to see her reaction, her face was wild with captivation. Smiles galore! The birds especially won her over. When we left the theater, she told me that she had a great time, and enjoyed it much more than she expected to. A few hours later, she was still talking about it. That’s a huge win in my book.
But I saw the show too, and so I’ll capture my own impression here as well. For adults, the performance was cheesy at times, and around a third of the tricks were pretty obvious. A few minor slip-ups on the sleight of hand by both magicians let me in on tricks that weren’t so obvious otherwise. But, I have to admit that I was watching with a slightly critical eye. However, there were a few illusions that they knocked out of the park, and at no point was the show never not fun…even with the aforementioned in mind. The assistant was beautiful and always on her mark.
I’d like to give this 5 stars, but 4 is a more realistic rating for the venue and the content overall. I still highly recommend this family friendly show, and would happily pay to see it again at some point in the future. It was a great time, and I wish all the performers the best of luck...
Read moreWhat an astonishing show! We live in Lake Geneva and all of our family begs to visit us and see Tristan Crist and his beautiful assistants on every visit. You can see the tricks over and over and still never figure them out, and there are new tricks every season. The cost is super reasonable and my advice is to book online and don't wait to see if it's going to rain bc the tickets are scarce when people must leave the boats and beaches. The free on-site parking is key. There are many places to eat nearby (Mods Pizza, etc) but you can also grab wine, beer, popcorn, candy at the show (Tristan does a trick with vintage candy bars that will blow your mind!). The theater is clean and new-looking and the staff is engaging and kind. It's a 90-minute show which includes a brief intermission. We like that some tricks are "small" in scale like the ropes, Rubik's cube, and the like, and many tricks are gigantic involving a giant human screw, levitation, motorcycle, helicopter, etc. This is not a show where there are a few tricks doled out slowly over the hour and a half; instead, it is rapid fire yet with breaks for Tristan to speak to the audience just enough to let us catch our breath. It's like a theme park ride! The show is a flashy interplay of dark and light set to modern "nu metal" music, but the sound was not overly loud and enjoyed by even our grandparents. Lights, smoke, confetti, it's quite the experience! It's engaging for even our 7+ year olds. We have seen Penn & Teller, Mack King (Las Vegas), and Rick Wilcox (Wisc Dells) and many other magicians and, to be frank, Tristan Crist is the show we want to see again and again. This show is highly recommended!!! ...
