My husband and I went to the Lake Geneva location today to make a marine fish purchase. We've been in the saltwater hobby for 10 plus years and were just looking for a cheap starter fish. We picked out an Ocellaris clownfish marked as $19.99. When we went to check out we were charged $39.99 as this is how the staff member (manager) labeled the bag. When we brought the mistake to the attention of the very nice cashier she had the manager come up (Amanda? Thin, tattooed with glasses). She immediately became defensive and instead of apologizing for the mistake she insisted this fish was one of the fish marked "fancy assorted". There is zero doubt as to the fish being an Ocellaris and the tank was even labeled as such. The manager obviously had no clue as to her marine stock and instead of looking it up and making a price adjustment she stated "This is what our vendor sold it as and what we have to charge." So Petco when your vendor sends you the wrong item or mislabels an item you rip off your customers to cover the mistake vs making the price adjustment??? Or was it that your staff is so uneducated as to your livestock that they couldn't recognize one of the most common fish in the marine hobby? Either way ATROCIOUS customer service today from your manager and sickening behavior stressing that fish by bagging it up only to throw it back rather then admitting fault and making things right. We were quickly greeted by Dylan, who took us to the parakeet area. Dylan spent a great deal of time talking with my son and wife about parakeets and what wonderful pets they make. He patiently addressed our concerns, reassured us, and explained what items we would need and how to care for them properly. After much discussion, we decided not only to purchase one parakeet, but two knowing that a companion would make our new pet even happier. In addition to Dylan’s outstanding help, Patrick also assisted us. He made sure we had the right supplies, gave us tips on cage setup, explained feeding routines, and shared advice on how to help the birds adjust to their new environment. Read morePetco has now been out of the dog food our dogs multiple times. I had to change Dog food today as our dogs were out completely. After being on now for a couple of years I will be very upset if they have stomach issues with the change. Their shelves are very bare with the Hills science diet Brand foods so good luck if this is brand you use. Also beware of Vital care. I only inqured about canceling after being member for many years and they canceled anyways immediately without my consent but then refused to fix the mistake or apply the discount. Then they also said no partial or full refund for the last month I paid for but did not get any benefit from. Customer care does not care or even apologize for anything or try to keep you just repeats same thing and makes it out i did cancel my fault basicly. We were going to stay longer on program but for sure now we are done with Petco altogether! Time to use Pet Smart I think! Horrible customer service need...
