Having visited a handful of card and game stores throughout Chicago, I can comfortably say that the Dice Dojo boasts the most impressive MTG association I’ve experienced. And by the way, to call myself an amateur at Magic TG would be an understatement, whereas the players at Dice Dojo are clearly seasoned veterans who are not only passionate about the game itself, but also are active members of the entire community. Certified MTG judges are on site to settle disputes and clarify any rules or gameplay mechanics. Not to mention, while being thoroughly gobsmacked by the entire affair, I was fortunate enough to find a seat next to a gentleman by the name of Max, who explained their draft, league, and various house rules, lent me a few pointers, and then pointed me in the direction of the lands station since my ā˜€ļøšŸ”ļø deck was in a miserable state you might say. And of course, the staff members I interacted with were incredibly professional, and more than happy to provide as much insight into what purchases would benefit one’s deck rather than simply trying to upsell. All in all this is a fantastic storefront and society. 4.855 / 5 āļø

Great shop, friendly folks, and lots of excellent dice!

Chicagoland games dice dojo offers parking directly in front on Broadway with easy access for wheelchairs. Employees are kind and respectful. The interior of the store has a very unique vibe. Large lot of unique products available. Great place to stop by if you are new to tabletop games since it has so much variety. I highly recommended this location for competitive and casual playing. This is a great location for all your gaming needs. Large collection of magic the gathering, pokƩmon, board games, models and supplies. I was able to pick up my hero academia for a great price. Store is not overpriced.

I just want to start by saying I hate writing bad reviews, I feel it’s tacky, yet there I am. But I have come to the dice dojo periodically for the last couple years. It’s really been hit or cold depending on the staff in my opinion. Like I’ve had good times and I’ve had bad times, but today? Dice Dojo just straight up wasted my time.

To put it blunt, if a customer calls for a product, and you say you can put it on hold for a week as it was the last one left, wouldn’t you think you uphold that promise? Well that’s the situation I just faced after driving 30 minutes. But to make matters worse, the employee who ā€œput it on holdā€ never stated I needed to give my last name nor ask me for it, just my first. So when I got there, being questioned like a liar by the closing employee in the TCG area about how they never take requests without a last name and so therefore I was not telling the truth was very irritating. Then also proceeded to tell me the product wasn’t out yet a case nearly empty was behind him with no product around, so where did it go if they were being sold on the delay release date or the street date that passed.

When I questioned the employee about this blatant discrepancy in the staffs communication, I showed them my call log on my phone where just 4.5 hours ago I had made a call to them. I asked him if that was their phone number to reconfirm what I knew to be true, and hesitantly said yes, little weird not gunna lie.

I think probably what drove me to write this review is just the fact that there wasn’t really just a ā€œoh hey sorry, we didn’t have the productā€ but I was sort of low level interrogated as if I caused them an inconvenience.

I really think I come here for convenience of not going to the suburbs, but I really have to say sadly the grass always seems to be greener not coming here. Maybe I’ll stop in and buy dragon shields but that’s it. To the manager who may care to actually read this, like you guys always charge a premium price vs other LGS’s which like hey you do you, but I hope maybe you can get your staff trained better because Christ, like I already pay higher just to shop there, least you can do is be decent while you tax my wallet that extra 5-10 under MP rules.

Overall, to anyone reading this, you may have a different interaction or this may be your favorite store for locals. But I wish I had that interaction with them always… because I don’t. Thanks for being standoffish for no reason and then just wasting my time, unnamed man working in the TCG section at 9:30 pm on Thursday night, it’s been a...

I wanted to let all of you know a terrible experience I had at a shop yesterday. I was driving my brother back to his place and I know that he is near a shop named Dice Dojo on the north side of Chicago. I’ve been there a few times before over the years without incident. So my brothers and I walk in and we’re greeted and we were told that they were only open for 5 more minutes. I responded that’s fine, because there were a couple specific things that my brother was looking for. When going to the rear of the store, I noticed that they had moved things around since my last visit and that the MTG singles were located in different spot. I also noticed that there was a MTG tournament going on on the other side of the shop (shop is broken out to gaming room and retail room but all traffic goes through retail room). I asked about the tournament and they said yes they were in the middle of it. I asked ā€œbut didn’t you say you were closing in 5 minutes?ā€ He replied yes and looked at his watch and said that we are closing in two minutes. Kind of rude but it just could’ve been the way I took it.

My brother then asked about an item as he couldn’t locate it and was told they were out of stock. I figured hey at least I’d purchase a card from their case so they get a sale. I asked for their iPad as I know that they require it even if you see something in the case in front of you as they do online sales as well. I asked for the iPad to quickly input the cards I see and was told that they put it away. Really?? The whole time these guys seemed like they didn’t want us there although there were multiple people on the retail side and in the gaming room.

I’m hoping the owner of the shop reads this because your employees were turning away money that we were willing to spend at your store. I get that if we had walked in before they were closing up shop and we were the only ones there that they were closing down but they had about 40 people in the shop at the time. I don’t know if any other LGS’s that turn away business like that. You guys lost a sale and 3 customers that all game and paint minis. My brothers say they will not go back as they both felt...

Good place to play magic, unfortunately we had a bad experience regarding the duskmourn prerelease event, we have been to the shop several times in the past month and had asked about tickets or signing up and were told by the event manager that it was first come first serve, show up today and find out you had to buy tickets weeks in advance, which is unfortunate because we had been there last week and for the second time asked about the prerelease, were told first come first serve. It may have been a misunderstanding but we were pretty clear about wanting to participate in that specific event, the people on shift indicated that we may have confused them by maybe saying release day for buying the cards but we were very clearly asking specifically about the pre-release event, especially as we had a friend drive from out of town to join us on both occasions. I'm unsure what the issue was. I will say some places favor the regulars but is not a great way to build new clientele, hopefully not the case here but cannot say for sure. We managed to find the event elsewhere, but it was a bit inconvenient in general. Great place if you are looking for something as they have a solid amount of product, I have had 1 event here that was fine prior, this time was unfortunately not a good experience but hopefully the next time we...
