The Night Owls Bar and Speakeasy — Restaurant in Lakewood

At first they walked us past the cute bar area but then took us down the hallway that connects the bar to their event space and stuck us at the back even though we did have a reservation. It felt like being put in a corner and forgotten. After that it took 15-30 mins for them to finally take our orders and then another 15-30 mins to bring our 3 mocktails and 1 cocktail.

2 of the mocktails were decent but the other 2 drinks were bland and barely drinkable. While 1 did have a moderately interesting presentation with setting the glass on fire (though he missed charring the orange slice and dripped a lot of the flammable liquid on my pants), the other 3 had lackluster presentation and all felt overpriced.

We continued to wait for our hummus plate that was ordered at the same time and were about to cancel it and leave when it was finally brought over. The lackluster presentation continued with a bowl of hummus and dumped baby carrots/celery/bread.

They asked how the drinks were and I had mentioned how bad mine was. They offered to void it which I do appreciate but then one of the main waitresses ended up charging it because she assured us it was voided but when our friend insisted she check, she found it wasn’t. So she had to void the transaction and rerun it.

This same waitress also gave horrible service. She mumbled the whole time and often started to turn and walk away mid sentence, making it even harder to understand her. She always seemed in a rush and like she didn’t want to assist us despite how polite and friendly we were.

they frequently host speed dating events and I attended one recently. Unfortunately everything was so disorganized. Even though I arrived on time I wasn’t seated until more than an hour and a half later with no clear communication from the staff during that wait. The seating arrangement was also not ideal. Everyone was crammed into a small area making it very loud and difficult to hold conversations. I had a bad experience with another person who clearly had too much to drink and was acting out and acting belligerent, they would not do anything to alleviate the situation. I would not recommend women to go alone for that reason, also over priced drinks. Overall I would not...

The bar is actually very cute- the decor is fun and the atmosphere is cozy. The drinks were decent. The service however, was not good. Maybe the bartender was having an off night, but we were literally the only patrons in the bar and he didn't seem to really want to talk to us- any questions we had were met with "well, you can read the menu." We also ordered our drinks at the same time and he refused to give us the happy hour price on the second drink because we "ordered it too late." "Too late" was apparently less than 1 min past the end...
