One of the worst nail salon experiences I've had. In summary, terrible customer service, poor quality of pedicure, overpriced, and poor appointment availability.
First of all - they don't have acetone so you have to remove anything you have on that's not their product before you go because they will turn you away since they don't have acetone to remove it. I had never done the CND brand so I had no idea. So I showed up to get a mani and pedi and they couldn't do my mani because I had gel polish. They had emailed about it (went to my junk mail) and called me (I don't usually answer my phone if I don't know the number and as soon as I started hearing the message I thought it was just a reminder so I deleted it) but they didn't text about it (they sent multiple text reminders but didn't have the info on it).
They charged me for the manicure I didn't get because I checked a box saying they could do that when I made the appointment online. I asked them if they could make an exception since it was my first time and I didn't know anything about their process or products and they could not care less. They were more interested in getting money out of me. Apparently it's the customer's responsibility to ensure their staff get paid. The lady said they often have this problem where they cant remove people's polish and turn them away (perhaps ya'll should do something about that?) Everyone I've told this story look at me like I have 5 heads ("How does a nail salon not have acetone?!" they all say incredulously)
So while I got the pedi, I had to call my regular nail salon to get fit in that morning for the gel mani since I was leaving for travel that weekend and couldn't wait. Thankfully my usual nail salon could fit me in last minute.
The pedicure quality was very poor. The lady left nail polish smudges along the skin surrounding the nail in multiple areas on both my feet and I wasn't able to tell because they spray some sparkly stuff on your toes at the end. So while I'm getting my mani at my regular place later, I look down and see the smudges on the toes. I had to call this place again to remove the defects and they had a lady remove the polish smudges in their lobby since they couldn't fit me in the back. She was apologizing profusely about it since it was so obvious the previous lady was not paying attention. This pedicure chipped by 3 weeks. The pedi experience was also pretty mediocre (massage, etc). The thickness of the polish also looked thin and cheap (not sure if that's how this type of polish looks or if it was because of how the lady applied it).
Pricing was way too high for the quality of the work IMO. You can get the same work for half the price in other salons in the area and it will last just as long if not longer).
The inside of the place was clean but tiny and cramped, with no windows or anything in the back where you get services. There were vagrants loitering right outside the salon.
Availability is also an issue since I had to wait weeks to make an appointment (the place is tiny which makes sense). If you need to make appointments in a shorter time frame (like I sometimes do due to constant work travel), this is a big problem.
The polish color selection was good and they give you a little goody bag on your first visit. So at least I got a nail file out of this fiasco.
So, overall, I don't recommend this place. Their borderline predatory charging practices, indifferent customer service, poor quality pedicure, poor appointment availability, inability to remove regular polish, and overpricing is not worth it. I really was hoping for a luxe experience and got the...
Read moreMy daughter and I went to Nest Nail on a recommendation from a friend. It was a treat for my daughter for making it on a team in High School. She needed to have her fingernails trimmed short and shaped. So I figured lets get pedicures too and make a day of it. The girls that worked with us were nice enough and did an okay job, nothing spectacular but good enough.
The next day my daughter's toenail polish looked like it had water marks and two of her fingers that had the clear polish on them had peeled off. MY toes looked and felt bumpy. I emailed them immediately with photos. I removed our polish and expected to hear back from them the following Tuesday when they reopened. I had to email them again at the end of the week and finally got a response.
I spoke with a manager and because we were not able to return anytime soon as we live over an hour away from their place, I ended up being referred to Brenna Massa the owner. I expected to have a conversation about what had happened. Instead she was very aggressive and accusatory.
She informed me that we were at fault for bringing our own polish and that they were not responsible. I explained that when they had called to confirm the appointment, I made it a point to ask about bringing our own or if they had unopened polish to purchase there, but I was told that we could bring our own and if we saw something on the shelf we could use theirs, not buy theirs.
I worked in the industry years ago and I am so acutely aware of bacteria and fungus that we never use a salon's colors. This offended Brenna and she very loudly and condescendingly asked me if I knew DORA (I thought who? the explorer? but I didn't want to make things worse with her) and she proceeded to tell me that she knew people in Dora and that they worked closely with them etc. (as I hoped everyone does). I listened and waited for an opening to speak but she kept talking over me.
The issue I had was that I was never told not to bring our own polish or that there might be some reaction between what they use and what we had. We would have been just as happy not adding color if we were told not to bring our own. The only thing I could think of was that the almond spray they use to finish, reacted to the polish or that the polish was on too thick. But that didn't explain why my daughter's manicure peeled as she only used their clear polish. I don't know what happened and Brenna wasn't willing or able to explain anything to me. She continued to be frustrated with me and offered to reimburse me half of our $168 total. I thought that was generous but in the end she only reimbursed me $20.
My daughter and I are not big on getting our nails done, we prefer to do them ourselves but were looking forward to adding this event to our day out together. We still enjoyed our day and laugh at Brenna's insanely intense reaction to being challenged or questioned.
I gave this a two star rating because her reaction was over the top. I'm a pretty calm person by nature but I sure was aggravated and offended at the inference that I was some kind of a grifter trying to get something for free and her inability to let me speak. I'm a business owner myself and her demeanor was gross and unnecessary. Of course we won't return and unfortunately I can't recommend this business to my clients.
The place looked clean and was tidy. The girls were very young and not chatty at all. Don't bring your own polish. Live close enough that if something needs to be fixed, you can return with ease....
Read moreAllow me to share my experience visiting this nail spa a couple weeks ago. I had received a gift card for $75 a couple years prior from an out-of-state family member that didn’t realize how far away I lived from Lakewood at the time (I live in Aurora), so it took me a while to book/use this appointment. I booked a couple weeks in advance because I’m a busy mom that had to set up childcare and work this “spa day”out well in advance. I booked a shellac manicure and regular pedicure. I looked up the distance the day before my appointment and my gps said 22 min drive. The morning of my appointment (appt at 10am) I left in my pre-scheduled time frame but was shocked to see my gps tell me I would arrive at around 10 min late. I immediately called the salon and let them know this. They thanked me for the heads up and told me to drive safe which I thought was nice. I hurried and walked in at 10:12 am completely out of breath from rushing and being stressed (I’m also 8.5 months pregnant) and was told by the receptionist that I would only be able to do a regular mani pedi and not shellac. I was disappointed but totally understood. She said she had to go “check and make sure” and when she came back she told me that because I was over 15 min they would only be able to do one service now (at this point it was over 15 min but I technically did arrive within that 15 min window). I was super disappointed because I felt I had done everything in my power to get there on time, but I really didn’t want to argue so I said ok. She said she had to charge me half the service I “missed” and since I had a gift card of $75 to spend I asked if I could put that charge on the gift card instead of my credit card. She said no. I asked if I could do a shellac pedi instead of normal to use more money. She said no. I wanted to cry and sat down and waited for 45 min until my next appointment scheduled at 11. She must have felt bad so she gave me a Figi water and I thanked her bc in my haste I had forgotten mine at home (8.5 months pregnant). I had a “just ok” pedicure. When I came to check out it was likely a manager-type person that checked me out and not the receptionist although she was there too. I thought I would ask again to see if I could put the “late fee charge” on the giftcard and was again told no. Again I didn’t argue. I never even raised my voice once throughout this whole experience. I ended up leaving a huge tip on my gift card to use up the balance and I asked her if I could have another water since I forgot mine and my 10 oz Figi bottle I had been given had been drained a while ago. The manager said “oh were you charged for that? That is $4.” I told her while looking at the receptionist who gave it to me, that she had given it to me and never once said it had a cost! I assumed it was complimentary! The manager said she would just charge it to my gift card. While I was filling up my 10 oz “complimentary” Figi water in the water fountain at the back of the store, the receptionist came and found me and apologized. I just wanted to cry and leave and never come back. I ended up driving back to Aurora, walking into a more normal nail salon, was seated within 5 min and got an amazing shellac manicure for less than the price of my “late fee charge” at this HORRIBLE nail salon. I have never had an experience like this and will never be returning. Save yourself some time and money and go...
