I would like to say that I believe Rural King is an amazing place, especially for homesteaders. I purchased 5 Rhode Island Red chicks and 4 Americana chicks on April 1st of this year. I am proud to say that my Reds have started to lay eggs, and the Americanas are doing well also. That being said, I have run into an issue lately. On my last trip to this location, I had trouble identifying different species of chicks as more than half of the tags were missing, and the tags that were there did not seem to be very reliable. I asked the gentleman who was assisting customers with chick purchases to help clarify the issue, and to my surprise, I was told that he had no idea how to tell them apart. I purchased 2 chicks that were labeled "Cukoo Marans," 2 labeled "Silver Laced Wyandotte," and 2 labeled "Black Jersey Giants." After just a few hours, both of my "Silver Laced Wyandottes" were dead. Per Rural Kings policy, I was allowed to pick up 2 additional chicks. Foolishly, I took a chance yet again on the "Silver Laced Wyandottes," and by morning, another chick had died. Rural King agreed to allow me to pick up an additional 2 chicks of which I selected Dark Brahmas. After the birds feathered out, I introduced them to an outdoor coop in an area that provided shade all day around. They thrived out there for several weeks until I noticed that both of the giants died in separate areas of the coop and run. I buried the birds, and the rest have done very well since then, until today. I lost my last "Silver Laced Wyandotte" (which turned out to be a Golden) as well as my Cukoo Maran within 20 minutes of each other. The other "Cukoo Maran" that I purchased is doing fine, but it is clearly not a Cukoo Maran as it is entirely black from comb to toe. I am not angry with Rural King. I am, however, concerned about whether or not the other chicks that I have purchased will make it to adulthood. I am also concerned that I may not be able to trust purchasing chicks from here moving forward. I believe that Rural King should address their staff in regard to the standards that are expected in this section of their...
Read moreThis is one of Lake County, Florida's most lively attractions. They have freshly popped popcorn and a Kurig machine to make cups of coffee, as soon as you walk in the door. The area is quite messy, but that is one of the great things about it. It is a unique touch to quite a rare store. They keep an employee nearby to sweep up the area frequently and they stay on top of maintaining this little bonus feature area of the store. I often wish the styrofoam cups were a bit larger so it would be easier to manage your fresh hot cup of Kurig coffee, rather than burning your thumb as you spill a little drop off coffee over the edge, with each step you take, leaving behind a wet trail of sticky liquid, (if you take sugar, like me). But that's not really an issue when you consider the comparison of all of the distinctively delightful and exclusive qualities that you have the chance to experience while visiting this rare, country-farm store, which had a little bit of everything, right down to a variety of small farm animals, like multiple kind of baby chicks, baby ducks, and even bunny rabbit and guinea pigs. That is one awesome alluring perk of the place. It gives them a charming twist on a barn yard themed environment. Not to mention, all of the very trendy and rare merchandise that they have for sale. You won't find their products in any other store mostly, for so much of their inventory is limited and specialty items, not found anywhere else. They have the largest stock of exclusive items anywhere around. Great for guns and ammo, stylish clothing, and footwear, including quality boots and hats, Carhart and Real Tree name brands to name a couple, comfy and quality clothes, and t-shirt's with popular catchphrases and funny quotes on them. Don't forget to grab a couple of their delicious specialty candies or chocolates on your way out the door. This store will leave you feeling like you just spent a day out on the farm and it's great for the whole family. Novelty toys and I was tickled to see a cap gun which I haven't seen since I was...
Read moreUpdate 2 wks later and Other then their generic reply here, I’ve not been contacted or refunded my money on the order they canceled after charging me and it being removed from my account. At this point I’ll be reporting it to BBB and my bank as a fraud and seeing what else I need to do to report theft.
I would not recommend purchasing anything online with them including curb side pick up or store pick up. They sold me a number of items and charged my card. The next day I was contacted that they don’t have the items and don’t know when they will get them. They said they would issue a return. When I called today to inquire about the refund, since I had nothing documenting they would be issuing a refund, I was placed on hold multiple times. Disconnected once and cycled through numerous people. One man laughed at me and said it could be two weeks. I asked to speak to a manager and was put on another long hold. The manager and nobody before him even took my name or order number to look into it but gave staple responses. I finally told the manager to look it up and he did and then told me it would be 5 days before refund. So 5-14 days they hold my money because they are selling products they don’t intend to fill. I can understand a mistake on their part but to then treat me the way I was treated just because I wanted to know when I’d get my money back and upset to hear it would be a week or two out, is ridiculous. When I told him I wouldn’t be continuing to do business with them he said “that’s fine”. The mistake had been theirs and more could have been done to understand they took about $200 for their mistake. Terrible customer service. Had I still been in retail that’s when I’d have profusely apologized and offered them a gift card or something for the hassle. I’ll keep going to Tractor Supply and the local feed store where they actually care about their customers and...
