Who is the Giant among Giants?
I've been shopping Giant Gibertsville for years. Selection is always good, shelves always full, store is clean and checkout is usually fast with some cashiers being very thorough and polite.
The one at Ridge and Township Line in Linfield however, does not match up. I understand it being busy given its location amongst other stores in the shopping center, but busy is not an excuse for diregarding cleanliness. Simple solution...hire the help to tend to the floors, stock the shelves, and hold an employee meeting to explain the importance of your stores image on the front line of customer contact. Seems like some cashiers hate their jobs.
The Giant in the Kohls shopping center at 967 S. Township Line in Royersford (on the west side of 422) is the happy medium, but still doesnt match the Gilbertsville location. Stock is better, not so crazy busy, but cleanup could be better.
Perhaps some customers arent so picky about how a store presents itself. Perhaps all that is important to some is proximity. Perhaps some prefer to shop online and pickup at the door or have it delivered to their door. But if you are anything like me, who enjoys selecting your own produce and bakery items, or doesn't mind taking the time to stop and shop, well then, you would enjoy a well run shop.
Of the 3 stores I discussed, it's clear who is the winner, and who needs to follow in the footsteps of that managers expertise. All Giants...
Read moreThe management staff at the store today spent time to chase me out the door to check my receipt while I’m fighting with a dryer sheet stuck in the wheels to give me some lie that it’s a, “new system” that causes the wheels to lock up if you don’t go through the registers!
First, the carts haven’t changed - there’s no new boot.
Second, that’s a ridiculous lie to make up - just say you didn’t see me pay for my groceries (that were visibly bagged and had red stickers that say, “thank you” on them) and want to check my receipt.
Third, instead of standing like a jerk and not listening to me when I point out the struggle I’m having because of trash on the floor stuck in the wheel, try helping me.
People were lined up to the bakery and to the aisles - I opted to purchase alcohol and pay for groceries there. Instead of chasing me down, try jumping on a register to help your employees, that will go a lot further than making up lies about, “new security” systems on your old carts that don’t traverse through a register prior to leaving. where’s the eye roll emoji when...
Read moreI am a fully accredited food seviceworker in PA with over 30 years of restaurant mgmt. experience. An attempt to privately let the Store Manager on duty know that I had encountered food poisoning from one of the chocolate Dutch breakfast muffins purchased at your location 2 days ago resulted in my being kicked downstairs to the Bakery department and then put on hold again to wait for a Bakery Manager even after explaining that I was in and out of the bathroom. I attempted to do the right thing to have your store simply be certain that the item was off the shelves, but this obvious lack of concern left me with the responsibility of informing the public to be careful. All the manager needed to do was express that he acknowledged and would address the situation. Even the simple apology that should have been offered was nowhere to be found. This is not a "Karen" situation. This is an absolute attempt to remind the buyer to double check when they...
