I got robbed by the clerk at this store! She literally stole $15.35 from my credit card. Let me explain how this criminal theft occurred. A group of us went in and ordered 3 coffees. The clerk took my credit card payment of $15 and change and I had even foolishly left a 20% tip because the stupid credit card screen did that stupid guilt trip thing while the clerk looked on. By the way, she was on a personal call on her AirPods the whole time she was talking our order, which was mildly annoying. Then we waited 15 minutes while she fiddled around with the coffee machine, all the while taking loudly on her personal phone call. I noticed that she didn’t seem to know what she was doing with the coffee machine, but we waited patiently anyway. Finally she came up and told us the coffee machine was broken and she couldn’t fulfill our order. She said we would have to get chai instead. I told her we did not want chai. She explained that was our only option. And…she said she could not give us a refund. Really! You can’t make this stuff up. We left. I’m contesting the change with my credit card company and I’m leaving a bad review so hopefully no one else experiences this ridiculous situation.
Update: I was impressed with how quickly the owner responded to this very negative review, but I was not impressed with them telling me that I come back to the store to get a refund. I’m actually traveling and no longer in the area. Do they really not know how to do a refund through their own system without me being there? I handled this through my credit card system by following a fraudulent theft of services claim with them, they did refund my full amount and hopefully will pursue this further with them. Overall still a crappy experience with a poorly trained employee and an...

*Response to owner: I hear what you're saying and appreciate you asking for suggestions, but it is much more important on how you treat people while in your store than a somewhat boilerplate response stating your "positive attributes" to a bad review
With that, you could better use back stock/overstock to reduce the need to have so much inventory and so many racks on the floor in such a small space.
Additionally, since you have been in business for 2 years you could look at your sales year-to-year to analyze your top selling items vs. your lower selling items. This would allow you to see what works well in your store, thus items can be consolidated to fewer shelves and lower selling items are rotated out/removed.
With the signs you have posted around the shop, you seem very concerned with letting people know they're on camera, but not about access. You should use shelf signs to indicate prices of your products at a distance rather than every item having a price tag, that can be hard to locate.
Remove a rolling rack as it blocks the end of an aisle and it's not passable
Lastly, most small businesses that have success focus on one element. Your food service business appears to do well. Again, look at your sales and see how much a gift shop is adding to your food business. Over crowding your shop with mass produced novelty souvenirs could be taking away space from better customer service there. Maybe I'm wrong, and the gift shop is your primary business. If that's the case, then more space in general should be dedicated to that ...
Read moreThey treat potential customers like bums and inconveniences. some man wanted to change, and they said they couldn’t open the drawer to help without him making a purchase, so I told him and the lady at the counter id make a purchase so they could open the drawer and assist this gentleman, then they didn’t tell me until after I completed my purchase that because I paid with a credit card they still couldn’t open the drawer. Knowing exactly what was happening they baited me into buying some thing I didn’t want knowing I was doing it just to help that guy out, knowing they would still turn him away. then after all of that, when we complained enough about their actions they pulled out a stack of cash And made him change without ever opening the drawer. Just blatantly and manipulatively treating people with disrespect and discrimination. The man wanting change was clean, respectful, and calm. He had cash and politely asked for assistance just to be stereotyped and...
