Most reviews are for the game portion of Playforge which is EPIC (and our go-to for new board games), however I'm going to review the amazing customer service and Maker Space part of Playforge, which is ALSO EPIC and shouldn't be missed!
I reached out to Josh, the co-owner of Playforge, because I could no longer find a replacement brake for my vintage Italian Rollerblades. My skates are old enough they could go to the wine tastings that Playforge hosts, yet they are still amazing and I did NOT want to buy new cheap, chinese made replacements I'd hate. I had attempted to craft brakes from other skate stops, but nothing was holding up to a hard emergency braking situation.
Josh said he'd give it a go, and though it took him a little while to squeeze it into his busy schedule, we tried out a few prototypes. One the third take, he got it! I now have fully functional braking on my skates, and Josh can print me up a new one when I need! Plus, he gave me the print files so if needed, I can have another provider make one for me too (though all my biz will always go to Josh!)
Plus, the cost was SUPER REASONABLE! Being desperate for a solution I was at his mercy, and he charged a more than fair amount for his time and materials to get me back on the road.
I want to explore learning to do some of these things myself in the Makerspace, but for now knowing I can bring them items and they can help me replace things made of unobtanium is such a relief!
Josh, Jesse, Tj and the whole Playforge team are always quick to be helpful, happy to see us, and always smiling. It's just a great place with great vibes, and you should give them all of your business for family fun. They deserve it, and you deserve the awesome service...
Read moreWhat a wonderfully adorable little nerd shop! I was super wowed by their selection, I could tell the people working here really cared a lot about what kind of stuff they wanted to offer. They have a very convenient location too, just a short 5 minute walk away from the nearby light rail station. My boyfriend and I came to the area to try out the tacos nearby, but this little place caught our attention on our walk there and we're so happy we decided to hop in. More than anything, I love that it's a safe and well maintained space for people to have fun and enjoy themselves with games and community. It's a great opportunity to indulge in your inner child a bit and get creative. You don't even have to be a fan of DnD specifically to find something interesting here. All things nerdy, fun, creative, and expressive are welcome. I have a suggestion for the owners though: look into Pathfinder! It's another DnD-esque ttrpg with mixed up and different mechanics, but still based on DnD's system and some of the lore. My friends and I have been playing a session weekly and it's so much fun! I highly recommend you look into it and any physical items they might have, if you guys...
Read moreEverytime I call asking about products they are either sold out, don't know what I'm talking about or Don't know when they are going to get Restocked! Which I'm sure makes it difficult to operate a storefront. Also you get conflicting information from different employees which is confusing (one employee said they would hold something for us, then a very rude guy later said they dont). They have a young lady employee who is fantastic, knowledgeable and very kind! On the other hand they have a male employee (i don't think its the owner) who is extremely rude, unhelpful and almost seems like they dont know what they are doing or like they dont want to be there. Lol if your going to make customers feel like its a hassle or bother for them to buy or try to buy products off you or get information regarding products don't expect them to return. There website presence is virtually nonexistent. They also do charge over retail on some harder to get products like pokemon which tbh with how crazy it is is fair they just NEVER have any...
