I happened to do a quick search and this ame up, had such a high raring and many reviews so decided to give it a try.
Due to the area and atmosphere I was bit hesitant and expecting an overhyped restaurant that didn't live up to the expectations due to its high rating bit fortunately I was mistaken.
While the place is not very big it does have ample of seating and tables, the atmosphere is cozy and seems mich bigger and open due to high ceiling but in no way is it cramped. There is also an outside sitting area that I noticed as I drove away after my meal.
Anyways, while service would be a bit better it was great as it was, thinknit was more of then having a pretty full floor at that the. of day or perhaps I was just a familiar customer.
Anyways once I got a menus the prices mayy have seemed a tad higher than usual but I'm not too familiar with the prices which are never high if the quality is great.
I ordered some chips and guacamole. I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor of the chips and the salsa and guacamole. Very subtle but. Tasty flavors. I believe the style of cooking originates from Guerrero.
Uponnentering i witnessed a bull grill of this and quesabirrias which were very tempting however many places only sell orders of 3 and not individually.
That lead me to order a carnitas taco, barbacoa quesa taco and al pastor taco.
The ingredients used tasted fresh and delicious, while coupe of the tacos seemed to be missing a little flavor was an easy fix with the multiple salsas they serve you.
The quesa taco tasted even better with the green sauce. While al pastor and carnitas I think the dark red sauce was perfect. Also had a shrimp and while I prefer shrimp a bit more seared somehow tasted perfect with the creamy sauce. I do tend to eat spicy so definitely the various salsas were very unique touch. The sauces were amazing and some of the best I've tried in any restaurant.
Sauces were full of flavor while being very mildly spicy and each their own unique taste. Besides the taste the texture and consistency were amazing as salsas should be.
I think that any doubts that i initially had were quickly proven wrong and the delicious food and and Michelle's attention to detail and excellent service made for an awesome experience.
I highly recommend you stop by and try yourself every bite and moment there will be...
Read moreMy husband and I came here on a recommendation and clearly we have different tastes than the person who recommended this place. We prefer Mexican food that's really good food and this food was subpar. We were told the most popular item on the menu was a quesadilla - um that's scary and so basic. We ordered chips and guacamole. The guacamole tasted like mixed avocados which I can do at home. We didn't taste any onion, tomato, or cilantro and in fact I didn't see any of that. They brought out some sauces to try. No spice was tomatillo, slight spice was smoky and third which is suppose to be spicy was made with mayo! I ordered the taco plate with pork al pastor and a margarita and my husband ordered the veggie tacos. I asked if they could make Torriados ( which are pan fried jalapenos ) my husband also ordered a side of rice and black beans. We also ordered tea, water and Jamaica. First time I have ever been corrected on pronunciation when I said Jamaica. Pretty displeased. The drinks came out and the margarita wasn't bad but pretty light. Little to no flavor. Then our food arrived and when placed onto the table both of us realized that the food has no flavor. I looked at my tacos and there were hardly any onions or cilantro on mine, my husbands didn't have any. My tacos were burnt and flavorless. I put so much sauce on them to give them some sort of flavor. My husbands veggie tacos were greasy, unflavored and came with runny guac on top which cannot stand. Then we had to ask about the side order of rice and beans. The beans were black but in a sauce and had some sort of cheese on top. I let my husband eat my rice so he had more food. All in all we won't be back to this place. Spent almost $70 for two people for an afternoon lunch. Not good food. I would much rather go back to Palenque Cocina Y Agaveria right around the corner any day.
Please work on the food and...
Read moreWas craving some good food and that is exactly what my partner and I received. Our 5 star server, Brayden, absolutely killed it today during our visit. We were sat right away, greeted and given water and plenty of time to look over the menu. The drink menu is idea, not sure if it was on the updated menu but they do have agua frescas! I ordered the Hibiscus Agua Fresca and it was smooth and a tiny bit dry and just the perfect amount of sweetness! My partner ordered the Cucumber Lime Agua Fresca and it was a little on the sweeter side and super refreshing! Brayden let us know that if you order guacamole or caso it automatically comes with an additional side of salsa. I’ve been pretty disappointed about most salsas now a days but NOT at Cencalli Taqueria. Their salsa is amazing and such a nice small chunky texture. The chips, queso, and salsa serving sizes are idea for parties of 2-4 for a simple appetizer. I ordered the 3 Quesa Birria Tacos with soup, The Birria tacos are the perfect size, not too big, not too small and loaded up perfectly! The soup was also the perfect size and had the right amount of flavor. My partner ordered the 3 Arrachera Tacos, it came with a side of rice, beans, guacamole, and pico de gallo. We were both pretty full afterwards and sadly had to turn down dessert. The Margaritas cam in many flavors and were extremely tempting. Thankfully we will be going back soon and I have no doubt that the next meal will be as good at the first! Again, Brayden took very good care of us and a huge reason fro this 5...
