First time here, to Grande Station, in downtown Littleton. This first time, won't be our last time either.
Grande Station is located on the northeast corner of Main Street and Sycamore Street, in downtown Littleton. I grew up in Littleton, although I no longer live there, Littleton has a special place in my heart. Downtown Littleton is a quaint place to visit, shop, and have a nice meal at one of the restaurants down there, with Grande Station being one of them.
Grande Station is a small, quaint restaurant, located in what looks like an old depot building. I don't know if it is or isn't, it's just quaint. Parking is around the area, on the street, with the majority of it being free parking.
When you enter the restaurant, there is a small little area by the bar, where the host/hostess ask for the number in your party, to get you seated. There is nowhere to sit while you wait to be seated, unless you go outside to wait.
The interior is small with teals and greens. The floors are hardwood, and there is a lovely gas fireplace in corner, which gave off welcoming heat on the chilly morning we were there. There are approximately six seats at the bar, which is where we sat this first time around. You can see into the kitchen, which I always like. There are approximately 10 tables inside the restaurant, so it's small. There is no room for baby strollers inside the restaurant, sorry. There is a low ceiling which is painted white, so it doesn't seem like such a small space. Grande Station serves Daz Bog coffee. There is low music in background. You can easily hear the people you are with. There are also several garage type doors, which can be opened, allowing the wonderful Colorado air into the restaurant. There is also outdoor seating as well.
Grande Station is open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. They are (currently) open Tuesdays through Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, closed on Mondays.
The breakfast menu includes items such as Eggs Benedicts, Scrambles and Skillets, and other "Grandely Unique" items. I had the Bacon Avocado omelet. It was cooked to order, and the amount of ingredient in the omelet was just perfect. I also order the side of potatoes. Next time, I'll not order the potatoes, as there was nothing fancy about them. There was nothing wrong, just nothing fancy. I had plenty to eat without the potatoes.
My husband had the Biscuits and Gravy. WOW! The appearance of this dish was wonderful! It also tasted great too! I think I'll try the biscuits and gravy the next time we are there. Of course, I had to try his dish, and it was really good! I liked it better than my bacon avocado omelet. It was the right amount of everything, including seasoning.
Service is good, in the background, not in your face service - wonderful! Prices are comparable to other restaurants. The interior is clean, and as I described above.
Grande Station also serves lunch and dinner as well. Looks like we'll have to go back, and try other breakfast dishes, and lunch and dinner too! WOW! It's a "triple hit," with breakfast lunch, and dinner, and a full bar as well. Cool!
Thanks for a relaxing and enjoyable breakfast! See you again for breakfast, and I'll add on lunch and dinner too!...
Read moreFrom the street it looks quite enticing. Many people and open outside dining. It's weird that you have to walk through the same path and passage that the kitchen and the bar both utilize for servers and service. It creates a little traffic jam every so often. You set a table with a vinyl tablecloth which was a little disconcerting. We were never offered water we had to ask for it. The coffee is probably the least expensive worst tasting coffee available for restaurants and smell burnt and tasted bad. The three of us didn't even drink our coffee and that's when we asked for water. At least the water did not taste like pipes sometimes you get that in the Denver metro area restaurants. Not this location. Service attitude though not necessarily negative was more of just I'm doing my job rather than I like doing my job well. We did have to call him back a few times for just the basics that you usually get from other restaurants. Was extremely loud kind of cafeteria loud conversation not really very intelligible. The eggs were runny for each and every one of us. The English muffin that they've chosen is more like a very dense bread thick English muffin instead of like the light flaky Thomas style English muffins if that's what you're into wasn't very toasted with for me this is an important issue with a Benedict that the muffin be toasted to a crispy surface and buttered properly before the egg and other items are added. I do have to say that the chorizo gravy was excellent. In fact delicious but sad to say I'll never taste it again. I understand from some other reviews and everyone at our table that running eggs is very common at this establishment again very important issue for me when I'm eating breakfast is to have cooked eggs properly cooked eggs. The orange juice obviously from a carton probably budget level kind of stuff that you would keep behind the bar rather than the fresh stuff that you would serve for breakfast. It seems a little the server could have been trained better or even had a more congenial attitude it wasn't mean or angry or anything but just not very personable and very quiet again we had to call on him to get things at our table that usually you receive as commonplace in other establishments. Will not be returning. It seems that no establishment can do well at this location and just a few minor adjustments would really help this place thrive even better than what it's doing now. But some people are just happy with...
Read moreLooking forward to trying this place in my hometown of Littleton (just never tried it before). I arrived at noon today (Sat.), and they had two available tables open outside along with seats at the bar. I wanted to sit outside (inside wasn’t available anyway), and I hesitantly tried the seat at the bar, but the overhead fan was blowing so hard I couldn’t read the menu. The two ladies already sitting there were also clearly annoyed by it as their hair blew around while they tried to read the menu. Everyone was nice, but I was then told it would be a 10 or 15 min wait for a table (as the two I saw were still sitting empty). I was amenable to this, but right after I walked up front to wait a man who seemed to be the owner or manager suggested I go next door as the food came from the same kitchen. I’m irritated that the server who already had a 7-top and most likely other tables didn’t want me to sit at a table for four (I was standing right there when the bartender asked him). I even suggested I could sit at the other end of a table for 6 where a couple was at one end (if they agreed). I waited tables for years through school and was understanding here, but we never turned someone away just because they weren’t a larger party. My understanding and patience went unrewarded. Although there were smiles and politeness, I’m a paying customer who usually tips quite well, and to be brushed off because I’m not a party of four or seven is rude and transparent. I guess I won’t be bringing my party of eight next week as this was to be a trial run to see how we would like it. I realize the restaurant has been around for awhile, but to be obvious about not wanting my business ruined my rare enjoyment of breakfast out. I tried to be understanding and accommodating as I looked at the open tables sitting there, but this is a complete disregard for my business and our future business, as well as any recommendations to others we would have had for Grande Station. Thanks for the hometown hospitality. A 51-year Littleton native and not feeling...
