They don't enforce the rules for everyone just some people. They cut my daughters wrist band off that allowed her to be in the ball pit because she's short. Meanwhile I counted 3 other kids her same height in there.. She's petite too, and the others were maybe allowed to stay because they are stockier? Idk.. Felt a bit discriminatory, especially since she has been in there every time we've come without issue until today. Hopefully she gets a little taller, but most of the women in our family are under 5ft..so I take it a little personally, because genetics isn't something that I can easily fix so that she can be included in a circumstance like this. And that being said, I always supervise her since she is on the small side but management didn't care about that either..
*I will update my rating to neutral because I understand the policies are in place for safety, I would just prefer they be enforced for everyone if that were the case so that my little one didn't feel like she had something taken from her and excluded. She didn't understand why she's always been allowed till now and thinks she's being punished, and its just heartbreaking for me to see how sad she was as she watched her brother and other small children go in but she couldn't anymore. I think if improvements in this area were to be made it should be by age instead of height, as they have a place for smaller kids to jump that are under 7yo, which her brother goes into that too and he's actually quite a big boy so that one would actually probably benefit from height restriction rather than age. But the ball bit I think would be fine with say 4 and up, because most 4 year Olds are around 41 inches unless they are genetically on the smaller side as my girl is 2 inches too short for their measuring, but she's done great in it aswell as the ball pit at slinkies, it's honestly her favorite thing. I usually bring her during the week when there are less big kids and that's always made the ball pit (and trampolines which she's allowed to do) much easier for her to navigate, and be supervised too. Also to note, I have watched the employee monitoring it come and help pull other kids around her size up out of the pit to help them, my girls never needed the help to get out. Each child is unique and can handle themselves differently with different skill levels that don't always coexist with size. My girl participates in gymnastics and is actually quite athletic, and as most people know a lot of gymnasts are on the smaller side.
I did speak to a manager when I was there, to see if she could have her wrist band back if I agreed to sign something else releasing liability and especially since I will be supervising. The Manager pointed out to me about the waiver I've already signed with the heights in it that we agreed too, and I could be kicked out entirely if I wanted to push it. And I just thought a waiver was to cover the play at your own risk? which is all we wanted to be able to do anyway.. But again I get it, I just wish there was a rule following way around it for children, like maybe even a different color wrist band that says this child can only enter with a guardian. Just a thought for ways to improve to open up more play options for everyone.
Oh and last thought, if the child is under a certain age or height I think a smaller membership package under delux might be useful, since she can't take advantage of all the things I pay for in it anyway. Like an under 4 or 5 membership option? Hopefully these...
Read moreIncredibly awful experience. Poor service throughout. I ordered online the ultimate tickets (the most expensive type) for both me and my child - on the website, it was described as day pass and did not mention anything on height restrictions on the activities included. We arrived at 4 (the time I chose when purchasing the ticket), and waited till about 4:15 for our turn to get the wristbands. Then we were told that my child could not have the wristband for two activities that she most wanted to do due to not being 48 inches tall. I asked that I was not aware of this in buying the most expensive tickets (I am not interested in this at all, and I buy my ticket simply to accompany my child), and I was told by the staff that all other activities are available to us - so they mean that no downgrade of our tickets or any refund is possible.
Then we went to the cafe to get the food I ordered ahead online, and was given only the drink and told to wait for the others (pizza and pretzel with cheese). We waited for more than half an hour to get the food, and found that the "pretzel with cheese" had no cheese at all. I asked the staff at the cafe, and was told that they indeed don't have cheese. I asked how come it is phrased as "pretzel with cheese" online, the staff said the only thing she could do is to refund and I will need to go to the front desk for this. I don't really care about the refund on this four dollar thing, but I was really upset about this situation. So I went to the front desk, and was told the website information is inaccurate - the pretzel they offer do not have any cheese. I said when I paid for it, I did not know this (it is called pretzel with cheese online with description that made me to believe it is pretzel filled with cheese). The staff then changed her wording and said the cheese is blended into the pretzel. Oh come on! I tasted the pretzel and know it is just regular dough. And I can tell the difference between a regular pretzel and one with cheese! So I decided to give up wasting time with them and returned to play with my child - it was already 5pm then, and we hadn't really started playing yet.
Then the speaker announced that the climbing area was open, so we went there and found we again needed to wait. So another waiting for more than 20 min before we finally got our turn (the staff there was friendly though). Then we played a bit of others and found that the time was 6:40pm when the speaker announced that one cannot stay anymore if not having paid for the glow night separately. I asked a staff whether our ultimate ticket can stay and was told no. Starting from 6:45pm basically all areas were closed to clean people out and leave only those with glow T-shirts on. We did not want to stay anyway, so we left immediately. Therefore, we purchased the most expensive tickets, had real play time of less than two hours, and had to leave.
If I could give a zero star, trust me I would. Last point to mention is something I personally do not like - the place was very dark with uncomfortably flashing lights, and the music was so loud it was hard to hear each other. After returning, I felt like...
Read moreWhile the establishment itself is a place I’d have loved to visit frequently with my kiddo, unfortunately we will not be returning after the awful experience we had there earlier this evening. My 9 y/o autistic son wanted to attempt the rope course, but I was skeptical so I needed to speak with the staff running the course prior to giving him permission to do so. I requested to speak with her privately to disclose my son’s limitations, like difficulty interpreting social cues, his struggles with comprehension of verbal instruction, some minor physical limitations and his history of anxiety, all of which were met with reassurance from her that she would be there immediately to help him if he was struggling at any point. She reassured both myself and my son, that if there were any problems or if he became scared that she would go out on the course with him and guide him through and he would not be left alone. Her initial mistake was not fastening his harness tight enough, which she thankfully corrected after I requested she double check it because it did not appear to be tight enough. Then my son proceeded on with the course, but within a few minutes the pulley was caught in the track and it was up to him to manually and forcefully guide the pulley along the track, which he was unable to do. I stood there watching him from directly below, trying to yell over the loud music to instruct him on what to do. He spent 20 minutes CLEARLY stuck on that course, he was yelling for help, I was yelling trying to calm him while waiting for staff to come help him and NOBODY CAME. Twenty minutes. Finally I ran over to the girl running the rope course, the same one who was made personally aware of my son’s limitations and reassured us that the exact thing that was in fact happening, would not happen. She was sitting there with her back turned, as I told her he has been stuck for 20 minutes and he needed help. She claimed she had no idea and didn’t notice, probably because her back was facing the course rather than her eyes. Please, Urban Air Adventure Park, train the children you are employing. What an...
