This was the worst experience as a customer my family has ever had in a restaurant! While visiting our son at college, we thought it would be great to go off campus and took a chance at Champs in Altoona, PA. Much to our disappointment this turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences ever. Our son order a pasta dish with some sort of cheese that was quite distasteful. He took a bite and immediately said he could not eat this. Never mind he is a young man that will eat almost anything! I took a bite of the dish as well as my husband, and we ALL came to the same conclusion that this dish was horrible. We expressed our concerns to the waitress, and she asked if we wanted something else ordered. Of course, we ordered another dish for our son. She proceeded to remove the dish from the table and we certainly was NOT expecting this to be on our bill. When the bill came it was there and we expressed that we were not going to pay for something that we did not eat and had concerns about the taste. We asked to see a manager and when he came to the table, it was the worst customer service ever!! He proceeded to tell us this is the company policy is, that unless the waitress did something wrong or the kitchen provided an incorrect order, we would have to pay for the dish. We again expressed that we did NOT eat the dish because it tasted horrible, and he proceeded to threaten us by saying he would have to CALL THE POLICE. Really!!! That's how you treat your customers??? Oh, and it gets better. He proceeded to inform us they had the dish ready to go for us in the back kitchen. Wow! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this establishment to anyone!! or any of its affiliates!! If you are in the Huntingdon PA area do NOT go to this place in Altoona or State College. You don't even deserve to...
Read moreWednesday night about 9:45pm I called out to place an order for pick up under the name Scott when I arrived with another couple behind me it was a good 10 minutes before we were even seen by a waitress about another 5 minutes after they were seated to pay for my pick up order that was $48.00 for 2 turkey club sandwiches &a dozen wings 🤣which the bag wasn't even hot at all despite I bought a dozen wings[which is only ten wings where is a dozen "10"wings¬"12"?🤡]Anyways I get home to eat because I work early Monday thru friday as soon as I go to the turkey club sandwich to fold it to eat it the bread was so crunchy in broke all the way down the bread on both sandwiches and was so hard when I took a bite instantly I was furious being this is the third time I received food from there and spent more but never once complained so I put my sandwich down to eat some wings that were over cooked with not that great flavor I remember.I called in like 4:30pm Thursday asked to speak to a manager which the person on the phone said he was a manager[which i highly doubt wasnt concerned about my problem or fixing it because he claimed his boss wouldnt like him to replace the crunchy sandwices], but would not say his name wasn't helpful or trying to refund the brick hard turkey club sandwiches I gave him the time I went &how I knew the kitchen was closing at 11pm which I called at 9:45pm so in the end no refund on the 2 items out of three or even a simple call back, but you got 5 star reviews about how hot fresh and great your food is please your product is garbage and your owner is a joke take your cheap a$$ back to state college with your bread that is past the sell date I won't be back...
Read moreToday I went to Champs Restaurant in Altoona with my in laws and my son. Right off the bat, the girl at the hostess stand was extremely unfriendly. She noticed that we brought a meal for my son and told us we weren’t allowed to bring food into the restaurant. Anyone that knows my family well enough knows that my son has struggles and special needs when it comes to eating, to the point that he has been in occupational therapy for over a year to help him with the issues he’s having. We never take him out to eat because of this. But today, we decided last minute to go out to eat since we were running an errand in Altoona and we live in Huntingdon. Normally, I have to pack my son a meal any time we go anywhere. But because we decided to get lunch on the go so last minute, I wasn’t prepared with a meal. So we called Champs ahead of time and asked if they had something on the menu that my son could eat and they did not. So we stopped somewhere and picked him up something so he could have lunch with us and then we went to Champs. The hostess called over the manager who’s name is Danielle. Both of them were so rude to us and did not even take the time to let me explain that my son has special needs. It is extremely disheartening that these two ladies were so rude to us and could not make an exception for my son. Needless to say, this is the last time I will ever go to Champs in Altoona. I know I’m just one person and they probably couldn’t care less over losing one customer. I get it, COVID, and policy is policy. But my point behind this post is, people need to have more compassion and try to be more understanding, and show respect to others. Especially when you work in a customer service...
