It"s always fun here, but one thing has changed. There is a new limit on what you can take into the dressing room and that's three items. Not a good number if you are looking for a complete outfit, for example.; I want to buy pants and a top, a sweater or a coat to go with them, a pair of shoes and a purse to go with the outfit. Go shopping! Get some pants in your cart that might work. (I absolutely hate shopping for pants, they're ALWAYS miles too long for me). Anyway, on to the shirts or blouses, (there's BIG choices here, and then to shoes.. Now I have to decide when I'm going to wear this outfit, as my feet tend to be a five in the a. M. And a six or seven at night. (They swell during the day.) Oh well, I think to myself, I might just have to get two pair! So you try on shoes until you have an assortment that might work, and they go into the cart also. Next you're heading for the sweaters, but wait!! That dress is sweet. Better add that! Okay sweaters here I come... No sweaters I like so it's a coat I'll need. After I find a couple three coats I head for the dressing room with my cart. My cart with several choices in the aforementioned categories. My overflowing cart. And the store clerk comes to open a dressing room for me and informs me that the previous six items allowed has become three. I am dismayed. She is looking at my cart and looking dismayed. I explain that I'm looking for an outfit, and to fill it out I need to see it all on at once. Sorry, new rules... I must innovate somehow. I did. So here's the deal; take a friend, a very patient friend, and station her next to your cart. Have her take the items and put them in two piles. One is the maybe pile, one is the no way pile. Go through your tops and bottoms. Narrow it down. When you have the outfits that might work, go out of your dressing room and start trying on shoes and coats where they have a big mirror. Your wearing the outfits you might buy, so it works out well, and when you decide what you're actually going to buy (the dress and a pair of shoes) you can return the favor for your friend, who also has a cart overflowing with possibilities. I love Goodwill... Oh, and remember, the clerks work hard, so hang your clothes up as you go, so they don't have as much work to do as they put those items back. I know it's their job to do all that, but they do it all day long, and we know how tedious that can be. Thanks,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've shopped at this location for 2 years now (only since covid began), during which time the fitting rooms have been closed. I have never once been notified by a cashier that returns are for in-store credit only... and frankly I've never had more than an item or two not fit, so I've always just taken the hit without attempting a return. I have, however, had cashiers tell me to just bring things back if they don't fit in response to my curiosity about when the fitting rooms would re-open (which, to me, seemed to imply I could return them like normal - not for credit only).
I injured my back considerably this year and have gained weight as a result of my lack of mobility, so I'm not as good of a judge of my clothing size currently. My most recent shopping trip resulted in more of my items fitting poorly than not, so for once I decided to attempt a return. The store manager, Andrew Wood, curtly pointed out that their policy is on my receipt (which I would only know once my purchase is complete - when I could no longer get my money back), and that I wasn't going to get my money back when I calmly and politely explained my dissatisfaction with the lack of transparency in this arrangement and asked if something could be done to provide me with a real refund.
Since I wasn't very satisfied with my interaction with him, I asked if I could have the regional manager and/or corporate office contact information, and he provided me with a phone number to their job training center.
Unfortunately, after being a lifelong customer of goodwill, I will no longer be shopping at their stores whilst their fitting rooms are closed unnecessarily and their returns are for in-store credit only. It's an underhanded approach to business that affects low-income individuals the most, and I'm very disappointed that's what...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust kicked out.. Yep, that's right, my Pomeranian was just kicked out and they expect me to leave him in a hot car while shopping there in Comfort..,? I don't think so. I've been taking Bear in there for several years on this pillow and his blanket and so forth and the staff look forward to seeing him and when I don't bring him in they always ask me where he is but now, some guy says because of a recent email they received they have a sign posted on the front door saying no pets allowed well, it's bad enough for them to have outrageous prices to help pay for the new big building but the fact that Bear was kicked out to be left in a hot car at the same time that someone else is in there with a pet in their cart is not Honorable in any way so I have a choice of leaving Bear in a hot car to shop in comfort in a second hand store with their air-conditioning and let him suffer or, I can do other things and the Good Will will not have any business at all which is of course is a non-profit organization but, I know their bills have to be paid and I've always had no problem helping them pay their bills by paying for their high prices as long as I didn't have to leave my pet in a hot car so, it looks like the Goodwill store is no longer a popularity with me like it used to be. Walmart and other places are pet friendly but for a second hand store not to allow comfortable shopping by allowing you to be mindful of your pet not having to leave them in a hot car so that you can shop at the second hand store like the Good Will and for them too allow me to be in there for years never having a problem of any kind and then all of a sudden to be kicked out is, not honorable and respectable in any way to the public and their pets who don't like leaving their pets...
