Bai Po Massage and Spa — Attraction in Los Angeles

I started visiting this spa about two years ago, and the massage was decent at best, but pre-Covid, I returned and asked for the usual combo massage. I didn't quite recognize the ladies who worked there, and as always, I was charming to them. A new masseuse gave me a message, and I mentioned that my legs and feet hurt since my combo massage entailed body, back, and legs. I also asked if she could walk on my back as they've always done. She did so and never complained. I gave my usual 20% tip, and no one mentioned anything about the massage. A couple of weeks later, I called repeatedly to secure an appointment. They kept on saying they were fully booked, so I called again today to see if I could get an appointment for the next day, and she confirmed my name and then said, "you always ask for a hard massage and get the combo, so we can't see you anymore." Wao! I was shocked, and when I tried to let her know that I've never requested a" hard message," she kept repeating that they could not see me anymore. The funny thing is that whenever the masseuse asked what range I prefer, I always say "medium." Not only is this the worst customer experience I've ever had, but I believe there is an element of racial prejudice at this establishment, judging by the looks and rude behavior I got the last time I was there. Although I chalked it to them having a bad day-- now I know better. Please don't waste your hard-earned money here; they are unprofessional and will put their noses up even with a 20% tip. I went to Bai-Po for a massage last month and wouldn't have been so inclined to write a negative review if it hadn't been for the weird miscommunication I experienced. I called in to ask how much it would be for an hour-long full-body massage, and after they gave me the price ($55), I came in. However, once I arrived, they said that would be the price for the half-hour massage, not a full hour. I was disappointed, but I told them it was fine and that I would do the half-hour massage instead. However, I don't think they understood me and proceeded to give me a full-hour massage instead of what I asked for, which I didn't begin to realize until halfway through my massage after suspecting it was suspiciously long.

They finished massaging me and I went to pay, still unsure about how long I had been massaged for. They charged me the price of the full hour ($75 or $80), which is when I realized what had happened.

I told them that I had been given the wrong price for the full hour massage over the phone, and that I had requested the 30 minute massage, not the full. They apologized, but at that point, the massage was over and I still had to pay more than expected.

Overall, I wish that they would've been transparent about pricing and actually listened to what I asked for. The massage was fine but after the whole ordeal, I don't see myself...

I recently took my mom to this massage place on New Year's Day and, honestly, it was a great find. We ended up there because our original choice was booked and they referred us to this place - and it turned out to be a real gem. When I called to set up an appointment, the staff were super accommodating and friendly, making it easy to fit into our day.

We arrived a bit early, and even though they were busy, they welcomed us right away. The place was spotlessly clean, which I always appreciate. It's got a cool location too, right next to a diner and pie shop, adding a nice, casual feel to the area. Plus, parking was easy with a few spots available both behind the building and on the street.

Now, about the massage - my mom absolutely loved it. She went for a medium pressure massage and said it was just the right combination of relaxing and effective. She came out feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, which was exactly what she needed. She’s already talking about going back, so that’s a win in my book.
