Nacho Shack — Local services in New Bern

I actually literally hate to leave this review- because, and I cannot stress it enough, the employees are great. We decided to take a ride to Havelock, it was the first time I’d been out of the house since surgery and I wanted some nachos and my husband has been dying to try this place. The employees were amazing. Super patient with my kiddos ordering. The food came out and mine was wrong, no big deal at all, but they fixed it super fast, no problems, and within 5 minutes I had my order. If this was based on the staff, 11/5 stars. The food was just- I mean, it was food. We are heavy travelers and love good food, but this just didn’t do it for us. My husband who will eat everything not nailed down and thinks Taco Bell is fine dining, didn’t like his burrito and said it just was weird in both texture and flavor. I mean, it wasn’t bad, he ate it, it definitely wasn’t his favorite. The kids split a nacho waffle fry and somehow the fries themselves were cold, I don’t even know how that happened considering I literally heard them drop them in the fryer, they said they were ok. I got the brisket waffle fries and the brisket was tasty, but the cheese sauce/nacho cheese sauce reminded me of movie theater stuff, and there was really no flavor. I will say out of the three, the brisket was the best.

Again, it wasn’t bad. It just wasn’t good either. I wouldn’t go out of my way to try it again, but I would consider stopping by on my way through to give it...

My family decided to try your restaurant with a to go order and when we got home and opened the bag we were very disappointed. We had two full orders of the beef queso nachos and an order of chicken chili fries. My sons fries actually were ok but the nachos were horrible. Both nachos had 12 to 15 chips with hardly any queso and barely any toppings. And to make matters worse the only chips that had anything on them were the top 4 or 5 chips. The rest were just tortilla chips with nothing on them. I paid 40 dollars for mostly chips. I was very disappointed. I took a picture of my nachos as I couldn’t believe I paid 40 bucks for this…

Update: Nacho Shack refunded my money however stated that I could no longer get daily deals or be part of their clubs whatever that is and then stated that they hope I come back and give them another chance. They stated to me that they are sorry that they didn’t meet the quality the strive for but due to very fast growth has lead to quality control issues…. So even though at no fault of mine I am punished for complaining about receiving nachos that even Taco Bell wouldn’t have sold and they say that they do this as it’s their policy to ensure people don’t take advantage of their refund policy… this was my first time eating there how would I even be considered as taking advantage of a refund policy when I’ve never eaten there… I definitely would not recommend this business if this is how they...

This small restaurant is one of Havelocks few must go to places. Their wings are smoked, providing the chicken with a very rare and unique texture and flavor to go with it, and then fried. Their nachos? Which are we talking about? Their pulled pork melts in your mouth, the chicken is like the wings but on top of nachos, the brisket...? Now I'm from Texas and am a huge brisket snob but the brisket has beaten out almost every other spot I've tried in the 3 surrounding towns. If nachos or wings aren't your thing, they also offer rice bowls that can be topped with a protein and a ton of toppings for no extra cost, perfect for an athlete looking for pre or post workout fuel. The fries? Excellent for a snack / meal if you plan on sitting down and enjoying a movie by yourself or with a partner at home. Not that you have to be home to enjoy it, the atmosphere in the restaurant itself is a beautiful blend of art and vibrant colors and friendly employees who make each visit more than a pleasant one. If you're just being stationed at Cherry Point and looking for somewhere off base to check out, go here or Shimoda next door let's be honest they're great to if you want sushi or ramen. If you're visiting or living in the area now, just go there....
