I came to California rehabilitation institute about two weeks ago after a major surgery on my spine. I was transported from the hospital to The rehab about three days post operation. I didn’t know what to expect because of the bad reputation, rehab facilities get. Once I got to CRI, I was greeted by a Lovely woman by the name of Jessica. She was warm and escorted me and my friends to my room. I got settled in a big beautiful room then there was a parade of nurses checking on me around the clock. Don’t get me wrong. The pain was strong and I was uncomfortable but I immediately felt safe and cared for because I had two male night nurses by the name of Nolan and Fritz, or I like to call them night angels. That first night was difficult but my two angels were by my side, making sure I got through the pain and slept. The next morning there were doctors coming in one after another. My favorite Doctor.. Dr. Chung, who had a bedside manner that was funny and most enjoyable. Next was the smart and very thorough Dr. Lee, he was all about pain and relieving it. I couldn’t believe CRI had a doctor for just pain! I look forward to seeing him every day. Later, I got to see the very lovely Dr. Schwartz and Dr. Cox. I was so impressed with the level of care that CRI had. They immediately started PT and I met with Mal, Maddie, Rachel, Mario and of course little Maddie. This team of brilliant physical therapist got me going and feeling better almost immediately. One night I was not comfortable in my bed or with the recliner but within a couple of hours, a woman by the name of Diana and Mr Jeffery got me a new bed and a new recliner. I appreciate them more than they know. This is truly a remarkable place and the only thing that breaks my heart is that everyone in the United States can’t get this level of care. This place exemplifies how we should care for one another in this country. It is a great example of how a facility and the people that work there can make a difference in someone’s healing. Before I leave this page, I’d like to mention other remarkable people that work at CRI. The third floor Rocks… Yeze, JoJo, Karen, Betse, Irma, Jessica, Sade, Debra, class act. this funny duo kept me laughing all night …Jasmine and Gabby thank you! Betsy, and Farah. Thank you caring for me as if I was the only one on the...
Read moreDEADLY EXPERIENCE!!!!! Delivered my mom Home septic, asphyxiating and halfway through cardiac arrest.Zero stars, I placed trust into this facility and they were inhumane. Do not think because this is in Century City that you’re gonna get any better care you will NOT!
We were very hopeful that they would give us a good experience after previously having our mother there and not getting the best treatment. Doctor tried to encourage us. It was a place to go because most people liked it. WE ARE DESPERATELY HEART BROKEN! My mother was in this place and actually looking like she was starting to recover after her hospital. Stay from a broken leg shortly after she started to decline when we asked the nurses what was wrong with her. They said that she just couldn’t talk. Come to find out that she was actually asphyxiating on her own food and they were shoving 30% food down her throat according to Nurse, Persia. I thought when they brought her home, she would be normal. They had actually sent her home due to a broken leg through transportation. When my mother came home, she looked like she was very ill and unresponsive with her head hanging down, looking like the life was out of her. Even the transporters could not believe this that she was being sent home in this condition. We had guests in our house who couldn’t believe and witnessed her non-coherent. We sent foreign ambulance. My mother coded on the ambulance due to being sepsis just hours after being released from this place. We requested the doctors to run a test for UTI, but they declined. This would’ve prevented this entire ordeal. Please stay away from this facility. If you have a loved one and are not going to be there 24 seven to watch. By the way, I left several messages for Dr. Solmanatron trying to find out if they had medicated her and that’s why she weigh the way she was. It wasn’t until we posted a bad review. They decided to call us because they were upset about the review not even a single care as for humanity and a woman who had coded on an ambulance. This is a true Experience and we are devastated as a family right now you can imagine what we are going through at the moment. Please use your own judgment. May God help us all this is what our medical system...
Read moreI had a horrible experience here! I was encouraged by the Patient Experience Representative Francisco to write this review in hopes that the CEO reads it and contacts me regarding my experience and how this facility is being ran. I have been here a little over a month and I have been complaining to the Therapy staff regarding my schedule being scheduled back to back. Sessions can last 90 mins or 45mins. After my surgery when i arrived here my schedules were assigned one right after the other with no breaks in between. I spoke to the manager and she said she would take care of it and it was only that one time that it was changed. From that time to today it is still a problem that is not being addressed. I am an advocate for myself and one day a therapist came into my room and i was going to work on a machine that was prescribed to me to work up to 90 degrees, She wanted me to do 90 degrees and when i told her that i would not go straight to 90 degrees that i am supposed to work up to it she got upset, there is a weekly meeting that happens and they discuss your goals she went into the meeting and lied and told them that i am not doing my therapy and i will not allow her to do her job so my discharge date moved from 5/31 to 5/20! So now i am being kicked out of here? I immediately asked to speak to everyone that was in that meeting that made the decision to move my stay from 5/31 to 5/20 WITHOUT ME HAVING ANY THERAPY DONE ON MY HIP THAT I HAD SURGERY ON! i have many issues with being scheduled for two straight hours during lunch time where the trays and the therapist came at the same time and she said you can eat and i will come back in 15 mins! So I am not allowed to have lunch and let my food digest? From my first complaint to today this issue has not been addressed! I really hope the CEO comes and sees me regarding my stay because it was horrible! There are some really good nurses but there is absolutly NO STRUCTURE with the therapy department! The gym is way to small for them to try and cram 3 wheelchairs/2 walkers in at the same time and expect everyone to get an adequate amount of therapy! I hope this review gets read and he follows up...
