I had an amazing experience with Cantor’s Driving School. I’m not from the US and desperately needed a license to be able to commute to and from work and college. I had no family members in the country and didn’t want to rely on my friends to teach me to drive so I decided to learn with Cantor’s after extensive research.
Within a month of obtaining my permit, I took 5 lessons total with Juan and Ed. I went from being an immensely anxious driver with poor road knowledge to passing my road test with only 3 points within a month! I had a tough schedule so I booked with two separate instructors — I do not regret it, as I liked having a broad ranges of training styles, but if you want to track progress better it may serve you to only book with one instructor.
Juan is incredibly personable and did a great job of making me feel comfortable while driving. He calmly points out my mistakes and regularly gave refreshers on road knowledge. He helped me with my anxiety and my ability to multitask by making small talk while driving without being or making me distracted. He brought me to my first road test and comforted me when I failed due to being incredibly anxious. He was always happy to answer questions, even through text.
Ed was incredibly informative in helping me improve my technical driving skills. He is very frank about if I did a terrible or a great job which was vital in gauging my progress. He always calmly explained mistakes or improvements in any scenario after asking me if I knew what I did wrong. He focused on one driving skill at a time which was helpful in increasing my familiarity. Ed also gave great tips such as aiming for an hour of driving a day, shoes best for driving, and how to make my traffic checks more noticeable, etc.
I ended up doing my second road test a week after my first one (this time with a friend) and passed with an examiner known at my DMV for being tough! I couldn’t have done with without Juan or Ed. I had such a great experience and was never pushed to get more lessons. If anything, both Juan and Ed gave me tips about how to be a more competent driver so I wouldn’t have to buy more lessons —which I greatly appreciate. I hope this review is informative and helps anyone out who is looking for a...
Read moreI’ve had my license for a couple years now, but I was still uncomfortable with driving in the freeways and canyon driving. So I decided to Google for a driving school to enroll in and so glad I found Cantor’s Driving School! I had Juan as my instructor for 3 2-hour lessons. I had only been taught driving by family as a teen (which was very stressful and anxiety inducing) so having him as my first ever professional driving instructor was a godsend. He’s a good teacher, friendly, and professional. For example, when I was nervous merging onto a freeway, he was calm while guiding me, which made me feel safe and reassured. Instead of feeling judged or discouraged when I made mistakes (which I did as a teen being taught by family), I was able to focus on his guidance because he created a safe space which I think is important for any driver to be able to develop confidence and gain experience.
I highly recommend for any level driver, new or licensed! Our lessons happened to span weeks apart, but I really appreciate that Juan always remembered my goals of things to learn and improve on and where we left off in the last lesson. I really felt like Juan’s lessons, instructions, feedback, and tips were really catered and personalized to me, my goals, and driving experience level. It was a great overall experience and I thank him for giving me more confidence and preparedness to drive in a more variety of situations...
Read moreI just had my first lesson today with Juan and wow, I feel so lucky I found this gem of an instructor. I would say he is a master of his craft. He will teach you everything you need to know. Very professional, detail-oriented, observant with how you drive and what you need to learn more, patient and kind. He will make sure you understand and be able to apply what you learned, to your actual driving. You will feel his goal is for you to be able to pass your behind the wheel exam. He even taught me what to expect and I might be asked to do. What else would you want from an instructor! I had a previous instructor from another school. I would say that Juan is a lot, lot better, I learned more from him in one day in comparison with what I learned from 4 (2-hour) lessons with that previous instructor from another school. I didn't realize I was missing out on a lot of stuff that were not taught to me until I did my first lesson with Juan today. I'm really impressed with him, and the school itself. It is well organized, excellent back-up support & customer service when you want to talk to somebody, easy to get in touch with, and a very good website where all the information you will need (if you are thinking of getting their services) is there. You won't regret getting driving lessons from this school and with Juan as...
