When I first stepped off the elevator, I would have sworn the Hollywood Historic Hotel was haunted, but I didn't see any ghosts. 😁 Built in 1927, at the corner of Melrose Avenue and Wilton Place it is convenient to the Paramount Studios tour, the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, and Griffith Park. For a Friday night in June, I paid $168, which was less than many other hotels in the area. If you go, make sure to check out the bakery on the corner. #CapCut #hollywood #historichotel #melroseavenue #hotels #travel #traveltok

This hotel was truly extraordinary! What impressed me most were the exterior design, the interior sculptures, and the chandelier hanging from the ceiling. From the staircase to the hallways, the hotel is adorned with pieces showcasing its rich history and iconic scenes from Hollywood movies. Just taking the time to admire each of these displays is enough to understand the value of this place. The room’s interior was impeccably elegant, with not a single speck of dirt to be found. It was both cozy and comfortable, and though the hotel’s proximity to the road meant occasional car noise, it became quiet during the early mornings and late nights. From the room, we were fortunate enough to have a clear view of the Hollywood sign! I believe I was lucky to have been invited to stay here, and it made my very first trip to the United States even more memorable and special. And most of all, I must express my gratitude to Michael at the front desk! Though I regret not taking a closer look at his name tag, I remember his tall stature, cool beard, and yellow tie. He was incredibly kind, remembered my name, and gave me excellent recommendations for nearby bars and restaurants. Alongside his handwritten notes, he even drew a cheerful smiley face, which truly brightened my day. If I ever have the chance to return from Japan, this is a hotel I would undoubtedly visit again. Thank you so much for an unforgettable experience!

I don't normally do this, but I had the worst hotel experience I've ever encountered here and I feel it's necessary to share this. As much as I can express, I really, genuinely warn against staying here.

My parents were visiting. For context, my dad suffers from Parkinson's disease and doesn't use a computer often. My sister set up the reservation and put her name.

Let me preface this by saying that I worked as a travel coordinator for 3+ years. Part of my expertise with this position was booking travel and communicating with hotel management to ensure smooth stays. I encountered reservations under a different name very often. This is a common request, and it's even more common to try to resolve it.

My sister booked through a third party site (Hotels.com) and earlier in the day contacted the hotel to try to resolve the reservation name. The Manager/front desk Woman said there was absolutely nothing she could do until the third party was contacted. So fine, we contacted Hotels.com and they said there was nothing they could do either unless we talked with the hotel directly when checking-in. We were stuck in the middle.

We took Hotels.com advice and went to the hotel directly. From our first interaction with the Manager/front-desk Woman, she was INCREDIBLY rude about this situation to me, my mom & dad. It was completely unnecessary. She refused to talk to us at all and refused to listen to me and my parents saying that we had ALREADY contacted the third party and they told us to talk to her. She refused to ask more questions, help us, she refused to help contact the third party herself, and said that she would not let us check-in until the third party contacted her. We explained that we called earlier that day to TRY to do that already, and we were caught in the middle of two parties who directed us to the other. We even contacted the third party again, and they tried to contact the hotel to no avail.

Like I mentioned, my dad has a disability, and hanging around in a hotel lobby was very difficult for him. The reason we even booked the hotel and wanted to get there right at check-in was so he could have a comfortable place to rest and take his medicine. This woman didn't care at all when I raised his health concerns.

This naturally got us very angry and for me, as a proxy caretaker for my parents, it was infuriating to talk with someone so immature as to give us the "silent treatment", not treating us like people, not acting managerial at all. She offered us zero bit of empathy. She didn't care at all when I brought up my dad's health concerns, which is unacceptable on a basic customer service level! She didn't empathize at all with hearing that my dad couldn't be in the lobby for too long because of his health concerns. At no point during the conversation did she apologize for the situation we were in, offer any sort of help, offer any sort of water or anything to hold us or my dad over in the meantime. At one point she sent my mom to the bathroom, which was in the STOCK ROOM....

She was unfriendly, cold, and as someone who has worked in this industry - unequipped to be doing her job. At one point, she sent in a Man in a white t-shirt to come intervene. He interrupted the conversation, didn't identify himself or show any proof of his association with the hotel. He constantly changed his story - first saying he was the "manager", then saying he "used to work here", then saying he was the "owner", and yelled at not only me for doubting his credentials and wondering why he was interrupting the conversation, but he also yelled at my parents in front of the whole lobby, which was over the line completely.

These two didn't treat us like human beings, had a complete lack of empathy, and showed no managerial skills whatsoever.

I really, really recommend never staying here ever. There's plenty of hotels in LA that have good quality, friendly, happy people working here who are willing to help you and empathize with specific situations. As sincerely as I can express: please avoid this hotel...

My recent stay at the Hollywood Historic Hotel was absolutely wonderful! This place is more than just a hotel — it’s a beautiful blend of classic Hollywood charm, modern comfort, and warm hospitality. From the moment I walked through the doors, I could feel the unique character and history that make this hotel so special.

The location is perfect — right in the heart of Hollywood, close to all the famous attractions like the Walk of Fame, Paramount Studios, and Melrose Avenue. It’s convenient whether you’re visiting for sightseeing, business, or just a relaxing getaway. You can easily explore the city on foot or by a short drive from here.

The building itself is a piece of Hollywood history. The elegant architecture, vintage dĂ©cor, and classic design make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time — yet the hotel offers all the modern amenities you could want. Every corner tells a story, from the beautifully framed black-and-white photos on the walls to the timeless furniture that complements the heritage of the place.

The rooms are clean, cozy, and well-maintained. My room had a perfect combination of old-Hollywood aesthetics and modern comfort — a comfortable bed, spotless bathroom, flat-screen TVair conditioning, and free Wi-Fi that worked perfectly throughout my stay. The housekeeping team did an excellent job keeping everything tidy and fresh every day.

The staff at Hollywood Historic Hotel deserve special praise. They are friendly, professional, and always ready to assist with a smile. From check-in to check-out, they made me feel welcome and valued. The front desk staff were helpful with directions, transportation options, and even local food recommendations. Their genuine hospitality added so much warmth to my experience.

One of the highlights of my stay was the CafĂ© and Bar inside the hotel. The ambiance was relaxed and inviting, the food delicious, and the coffee among the best I’ve had in Los Angeles. It’s a great spot to unwind after a busy day exploring the city.

The atmosphere throughout the hotel is peaceful, charming, and full of nostalgia. You can sense the rich history of old Hollywood, yet enjoy the comfort and convenience of today’s world. Whether you’re a tourist, a business traveler, or a local looking for a memorable staycation, this hotel offers something truly special.

In short, the Hollywood Historic Hotel is a hidden gem that captures the soul of Los Angeles. It combines vintage beauty, exceptional service, and great value in one package. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hollywood — it’s not just a place to stay, but an experience you’ll remember.

Thank you to the entire team at Hollywood Historic Hotel for making my stay unforgettable. I’ll definitely be coming back and will continue to recommend this wonderful hotel to my friends and family. A well-deserved...

I don't think I've ever stayed in a hotel that nickel and dimed their customers as much as this one. The gouging is not only completely ridiculous, it's probably unlawful. In fact, I don't think at any point in my stay so far have I seen anyone happy with the front desk. They essentially "goofed" my reservation and gave me a single room, when my company booked a double on a hotel booking site. They repeatedly accused my company of messing it up, and whatever, I said "sure" and asked to just pay the difference for the upgrade. The difference for the upgrade, to move my single room to one of their open and available double that I already reserved and paid for, is $150 additional per night. A double room costs $130 flat on the website. They then offered me another single room at a "discount" that was higher than just booking it online. They claim that this is because they would have to CLEAN the room if we moved. So, to paraphrase, they want $150 in addition to the room price to clean it?

I asked for a rollaway bed, nope. They don't have any. I complained about the sink not having hot water. Nope, sorry, nothing they could do. I asked to speak to the hotel manager and was denied. The staff refers to the hotel as "they", as if it's some kind of out of control secret group of dark dictators that torture customers.

So the customer service is incredibly frustrating. It's actually more frustrating than, say, a 1 star hotel with a total of 1 employees who can't speak English, because here at the Hollywood Historic, you are quietly spoken down to by someone in a suit while they verbally deliver the customer service you would expect from a prison guard.

The hotel itself? What do you expect with something that calls itself "historic". Historic in hotel terms means "not really updated". Ask yourself if a modern, functional, clean hotel is something you would find desirable for your stay. Yes? Okay, then maybe save your adventures in history for museums and book the cheaper Best Western down the street that doesn't have plumbing and wires literally running on the outside of the walls alongside the 120dB window air conditioner. Or maybe coffee, or a phone in the room, imagine that!

Here's a Historical Hollywood fact, apparently, according to the hotel and its listings, Mid-Wilshire used to be Hollywood. Because I'm pretty sure this hotel is not actually in Hollywood. So if you have business in Hollywood, you'll be staying at the HOLLYWOOD Historic Hotel in Mid-Wilshire. Cheers.

Seriously though, avoid this place. I've spent my free day in LA arguing with these people and trying to book other hotels last minute. It's been a headache, and myself, and my company, deeply regret...
