It is not the gurudwara I am writing about. I am writing about the management of this Gurudwara. I and my husband visited on Sunday in the late afternoon. We wanted to sit inside and do paath/prayer in a peaceful and quiet environment. Some ladies were discussing things loudly outside. So we closed the door to be able to pray in a quiet environment. A lady came out yelling in punjabi, "kaun hai ehe, kehne band kitta darwaja"? She was extremely rude, I tried to tell her that its very noisy so we are trying to pray in a quiet envt. She continued to be rude and said, doors to temple are not to be closed. I just called the manager of that place, He says that he already addressed this complain and said she was some outsider. I think he was lying as well, because the woman who picked up the phone sounded exactly the same as that woman who yelled. Anyhow, he says that doors should not be closed so other people can come in. I asked him, where is it written in Guru Granth Sahib ji that you can not close the door especially when people are talking so loudly. These are the people who are running sikh temples now a days, while creating their own rules about sikhi. They will create these new traditions, and beliefs as if they are true. These people are killing Sikhi right in front of our eyes by adding superstitious stuff like not to close the door. That man should know, that anyone knows that Gurudwara is open and has the ability to open the door and enter inside. I bet you these people are uneducated individuals, who only learned to read paath all their life. They don't have any knowledge of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. But, these are the representatives of Sikh dharma. This is why today's generation does not want to be a part of this religion, because of uneducated and aggressive/rude , illogical...
Read moreI had been to the best of gurdwara in ny and buena park,ca and had wonderful experiences with people ... but this gurdwara at vermount, ca, had a very obnoxious young guy with his family and three kids.. asked very harshly where I was from.. and why I was there.. I left so unwelcomed there that I walked out of there after bowing my head to the holy books.. this man made me feel unwanted and was actually telling me I was not welcome there.. I never thought sikhs could be so insulting since everywhere else I met great sikhs with hand folded and welcoming me every where else.. well here is an example of a bad guy in a great religion.. he is the care taker and the management should definitely let him go because he is not what a real sikh person is. The first gurdwara built shouldnt be unwelcoming guest.. he did exactly opposite to what a gurdwara means.. also i went in at 7:00 pm...
