UPDATE:
I moved out Jan 4 2023. I was charged for damages, but there were NO damages. I had my apt professionally cleaned and was charged for the oven (which looked the exact same at move in) and that I'd only used once in 14 months. I called several times between January and February of 2023. They assured me it would be taken of. I didn't hear from them for 10 months until I found out my charges of about $315 went to a debt collector.
I tried talking to the office (in person) so they pointed me to corporate. Corporate said they no longer have control of the account so they pointed me to the debt collector. The debt collector can't actually resolve anything cause they're not Greystar. So essentially there is NO way for me to resolve this issue. They have also verbally admitted to me that the photos they have (which show no damage) are not necessarily photos of damage, just photos of the apartment. So they have no proof that I owe them money and now my credit history is at risk. AND NO ONE WILL HELP ME RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. They are scam artists and conveniently every time an employee or the company does something wrong that employee no longer works there.
Not all good not all bad.
The bad
They messed up my lease a few times and without looking spoke to me as if I just didn't know how to read one when the rent was completely wrong. Got randomly charged an extra $400 even though they eventually took care of it and got it off my account. Extremely helpful in the beginning, but I will say that the minute I was ready to sign the lease, the attention/helped decreased dramatically. A lot of entry ways smell like urine and you can find some dog poop smeared on the ground/floors. It's not excessive and it doesn't happen all the time, but it can be annoying and unpleasant. Moving truck got smashed in within 10 mins of moving in from someone loitering around nearby. Of course, this is not the fault of NOHO Commons or anyone that works here, just something to be aware of. However, the situation was provoked and likely caused by an employee and if I had been charged by the moving truck company they basically said they would not do anything to help pay. But I was brought water while I waited for the cops. The apartments are cheap. I've already needed to call maintenance 3 or 4 times in less than a month. Most times things were fixed swiftly and a job well done. The maintenance people are kind and effective and generally fast but there was once when I had to submit the same request three times as it said closed when no one had shown up. The layout of the apartment makes no sense. Huge kitchen and bathroom would be great, but in a tiny apartment it just means no space. My living room is awkward and my bedroom can't even fit my dresser so that has to go in my living room. There's only one legitimate closet in the entire apartment, it's a small bedroom closet and a few square feet of space where the water heater is. I have very few things and it's still hard for me to fit all my stuff. There have already been 4 fire alarms since I've lived here and they last for a while. One of which was at midnight (the night before starting a new job) and it takes them forever to take care of it. See below for comment about this basically being a college dorm. THE NOISE. The ABSOLUTE WORST PART! It is constant. It is everywhere. No matter how much they tell you you have. a corner room or whatever, it's a huge annoyance. Working from home feels impossible sometimes and relaxing at night is the same. It is super annoying and the walls are extremely thin. I've had people arguing with their significant others over the phone past midnight out in the halls and people blasting music throughout the day. This is by far the single worst thing about living here. This place is basically moving into a college dorm. People constantly screaming,...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars to The Gallery at Noho, I would. When my husband and I scheduled and arrived for our appointment to view available apartments, we were met with very nice appearances of the complex. The pool looked amazing, they had a gym, nice flowers and grass areas, it all seemed too good to be true. We had told Narina that we had a dog and she assured us that they had a designated dog run area (which we never bothered to ask to see since she assured us that it was gated like our old complex had) so we were thrilled to have found a pet friendly environment or so we thought. We agreed to move in, and were met with such a different perspective on move in day. First off, the area and model apartment we were shown were very well kept and in a different area than our apartment. While viewing our new apartment, we noticed that their surrounding area outside of the model area were much dirtier and not kept up at all. After moving in, we would notice homeless people walking around the premises, it constantly smelled like weed at all areas of the complex, and there was trash EVERYWHERE. At one point, there was HUMAN FECES in one of the stair wells that sat there for atleast 3 days. We also came to find out that there was not a designated GATED doggy area, but instead patches of grass with doggy bags and trash cans, that were either out of bags, overflowing trash, or just poop from dogs who’s owners never picked it up. Now, onto the incident that started the feud with the apartment complex management that is still ongoing today, one month after moving out. In January of this year, the morning of the 01/01/2018 to be exact, My husband woke up and walked to our designated parking spot only to find out that our car was broken into and belongings (including the key to the parking garage) was taken. We immediately went to file a police report and went to management to ask for footage or atleast a solve to the problem, only to be met with being told this situation does not happen often so hiring more security (who you never see in the first place) or adding more cameras (none were located on our parking level, only at the entrance of the garage gate and at that the quality is so grainy and out dated that it’s useless) would be unnecessary. We let management know that we were very unhappy with their feedback and still wanted them to be aware of the situation and atleast have a back up incase it were to happen again. We asked for another garage key since ours was stolen out of our vehicle and we were told we had to purchase one for $100, which we fought back and forth for and eventually was given one for free since ours was STOLEN. Fast forward to the end of April, when our car was broken into again. We went back to management with the same problem to be met with THE SAME RESPONSE. Their response was basically it’s only happening to us, they have a sign on the gate to watch your belongings for a reason. What really upset us was how fast they were to pull the “we are not responsible” card and offer little to no help with a solution to our problems. You would think they would atleast hire more security or offer us a different parking space, OR ANY HELP AT ALL. The complex is located right across the street from the Metro station, where cops constantly block off the street with guns drawn and homeless people are EVERYWHERE, you would think their security of their area would be well above where it is now. We immediately were on edge and thought this time for sure they would do something about our situation only for my sisters car to get STOLEN OUT OF THE COMPLEX PARKING GARAGE ON MARCH 4th of 2018. We called the police before we met with management only because they were closed and didn’t open for another hour. That’s when we found out from Noho police themselves that The Gallery at Noho IS A HOT SPOT FOR THEFT AND BURGLARY...
Read moreThere are always pros and cons when living anywhere, especially when you rent. Overall we love our apartment and the location, as well as many of the amenities included in our complex.
Most of the team here are open, friendly, and welcoming every time you speak with them. We love that we have a designated parking spot in the structure close to our apartment. We love the entire maintenance team!!! Special shout out to Lourdes, who is possibly one of the sweetest humans I know. They are respectful, quick, and get the job done (unless outside help is needed). The app is a quick and easy way to pay rent, ask questions, and keep information organized, although it could be slightly more user friendly. It can been slow or glitchy at times.
After living here for 2021 and now 2022, the biggest cons to our experience would be these. One, CONSTANT fire alarms which have gone off now so many times that we don’t believe they are real. We had a day that the alarms went off 8 times in the coarse of 6-8 hrs, triggered because the rain had shorted the system. Two, the amount of neighbor noise is frustrating. Thankfully we have quiet neighbors on the left and right, but above us is the worst. They have hard wood floors, which must have the thinnest and cheapest insulation available, and unfortunately they are heavy footed and always stomp when they walk. If they are doing anything in the apartment we can hear it. If they move furniture it’s like they are moving it on our heads. Again, next door is not so bad, but if the floor above has hard wood, it can get loud. Three, the one person in the leasing office I will ALWAYS try to avoid speaking to is Desree. Everyone else is a dream and so helpful even if the answer is no. Unfortunately Desree is the first person to greet you when you walk in the office and is usually extremely unhappy to see you. It always feels like you are an inconvenience to her day. Maybe it’s just a difference of personality, but I have yet to have an experience with her that didn’t make me cringe. She is always moody, short tempered, and condescending in tone. When we moved in our move in date was set by the leasing office on a Sunday. I thought this was strange since I thought they were closed on Sunday’s. I asked months in advance if we could get the keys early so we would have everything we needed for move in day, but we’re told no and that someone would be there to help us. I HAPPENED to call the Thursday or Friday before we were set to move when Desree picked up the phone. Her comment of “Oh, I’ve been meaning to call you. Can you move in on Monday instead?” was met with little patience from me. I had already gone through so much with setting up family schedules and renting moving trucks for moving on Sunday. To be asked, so nonchalantly, without a “sorry for the inconvenience” to just move our day was disappointing. She then asked if we could come on Saturday to get the key, but at that time we lived 100miles away and I was not about to make a last minute trip because someone else did not think ahead. All this to say I was finally transferred to a manager, who provided us with a solution that made sense for everyone.
Everyone else here at The Gallery will always try to give you that extra 10% of effort, no matter if they can...
