I live an hour away from North Hollywood. I ordered a banana cream pie for my husband’s birthday (his favorite) several days in advance. I make the two hour drive round trip to pick up the pie for a birthday surprise. We put the candles on, sing happy birthday, he blows them out and we cut the pie and as we are pulling the knife out we notice…chocolate NOT banana cream as we ordered. I know this would be a dream for a lot of people, but we can’t stand chocolate. It went promptly in the trash. Totally ruined the birthday cake surprise. In addition, the label on the box says banana cream. There is no indication that it wouldn’t be what we ordered. So I called to let them know. You know what I got? A refund….which is a given because I didn’t order a chocolate cream pie. You ruin someone’s birthday and that’s how you make it right? There is only one birthday in a lifetime. There will never be another one for that age and I planned this surprise for weeks and all I get is a refund for something that I didn’t purchase. Great customer service. 🙄 If you want a mystery pie for your birthday, then this is the place for you! *In response to the business, his birthday was on the 3rd, so we didn’t know you gave us the wrong pie until we cut into it after he blew the candles out that evening. Why on earth would anyone need to cut into a pie before serving to check and see if you got the order right? A refund was a given as I did not order chocolate pie and could easily call my credit card company for the same deal as it would be fraud. Customer service would be to refund the money and offer a free pie for the trouble in order to keep a customer coming back at least one more time to make up for the huge mistake. The fact that I had to spell it out for you illustrates your managerial skills are seriously lacking. I will not be coming back under any circumstances. Thank you for reiterating your incompetence, clearly, it comes from...
Read moreI had a great visit when I came by this place from a trip. Walking in I was delighted to see the cozy home like feeling of the environment inside. I felt there was a great selection in items and drinks that made the act of picking something enjoyable and with everything I received I can say there wasn't any disappointments.
-I ordered both the banana cream pudding and pie and they were pleasantly surprising and wonderful. The slices looked pretty and homemade and had a great inclusion of real banana inside when I was expecting to be presented with banana flavored "something". The chocolate was rich and smooth in both items as well as the pie having a thick but fluffy whip cream I enjoyed. The banana chocolate pudding's texture was very enjoyable with the bread being thick but moist and chewy. Side note I do feel there were some parts on the bread that got over-caramelized which led to a burnt taste in some parts that was very bitter but I still very much enjoyed and finished it.
-The pecan pie was fantastic as well, it's what you expect from a pecan pie so no extreme surprises but a cut above that of what you would typically find from the grocery store.
-Finally the Viana latte I had, I highly recommend. It was not to sweet and the foam put on top was so delicious I almost wish it had more inside.
Overall the atmosphere was very enjoyable though I'll admit might not be everyone's taste if they're trying to find somewhere "fancy" but it is what you expect, a cozy cottage-esque and it's loveable. The staff brought my order of pie out to me which was courteous and loved the merch they had too so had to pick a shirt up. I recommend to anyone else who loves pie and who might not love pie too, to give this place a try. I'll be coming back again...
Read moreThe people that work here are so rude. Asked for the English muffin without meat in it as I’m vegetarian and still somehow came to $10. Now, I probably would have paid that. I was asking the guy who was serving me how that makes sense and the guy with the bright orange carhartt hat and huge ego shouts at me ‘the prices are fixed’. I’m Sorry. I didn’t know I was speaking to you. I took my coffee and sat down feeling irritated, the coffee was OK. I then decided to order food as I had my suitcase with me and couldn’t be bothered to go elsewhere hauling it around waiting on friends. Avacado on my salad was half brown with the smallest portion of Parmesan sprinkled on top for $11. Let’s just get this straight...Leaves, croutons, quarter of an avocado and about a teaspoon of Parmesan cheese for $11. Im from the UK so I’m used to places being around £10 for salad but I honestly feel like I just robbed in broad daylight. Ordered the quesadilla with spinach. $9. Greasy. Everything I ordered tasted bland and cheap. I came here a year ago thinking the same thing about the bagel I ate half of. Went back to order a bottle of water... the girl and carhartt hipster are standing there cringely flirting with each other, smirking and whispering about me, making jokes, giving me unecassary dirty looks, sass etc. If people acted like that towards customers in the UK they would get fired. I honestly don’t know how it was busy...I think people just come here to use the chargers and WiFi or to look cool the whole vibe is off. Best part about the whole experience was the lady who bought my food with a smile. Never ever returning to this absolute...
