I lived at the Lofts at NoHo Commons from 2021 until recently, and while I loved the location and community of residents, management made living here a nightmare. I want to offer a disclaimer that everything ALLEGEDLY happened so I don’t open myself to getting sued by Greystar or anyone mentioned herein.

The good: The people who live here are genuinely kind and welcoming. The location is fantastic — close to NoHo arts, restaurants, and the freeways. That’s about where the positives end.

The bad: Communication from the office is almost nonexistent unless you chase them down. Emails are riddled with typos, notices often never arrive, and you’ll get excuse after excuse. Silva, the property manager, is one of the rudest people I’ve ever encountered in housing. Any time I brought up legitimate concerns, I was met with hostility or brushed off. She made me feel like I was the problem for even asking.

Maintenance routinely took 30+ days. My stove was broken for a month, and the replacement was also defective. When I complained to corporate that no one came to fix my stove, Silva called me to tell me how “ungrateful” I was for her and her staff and how she didn’t like that she was now forced to work overtime because of my complaint. Fire alarms went off so often no one took them seriously anymore (even the fire department) — a huge safety hazard. The pool leaks, gym equipment sat broken for years, and the dog park is often left full of trash, glass, and dog waste.

Things got even worse once Greystar bought the property. Renovations were noisy, poorly done, and had to be redone constantly. Residents were locked inside their units during “walkway repairs.” Walkways still feel soft and unsafe — they were just doing patch jobs on rotting wood. Parking, once free, suddenly came with new fees ($200 for “reserved” spots no one wanted, or $120 for a second car). Garage gates were blocked for days with no notice, and vendors parked in front of fire hydrants.

Other headaches: • They canceled our internet contract with almost no notice, disrupting work-from-home jobs. • Rent payments were chaotic — at one point we were told checks only, despite leases stating to make online payments. • Mail service was stopped multiple times without warning, even after a break-in. Residents missed paychecks and medications while the office shrugged it off. • Rent increases were steep and Silva told me mine was non-negotiable despite negotiating with other residents

Bottom line: I really wanted to stay for the location and community, but management makes this place unbearable. Silva in particular treats residents with zero respect — hostile, dismissive, and never accountable. Even local postal workers joked they weren’t surprised I was leaving because of the building’s reputation.

If you’re considering this place: don’t be fooled by the shiny exterior or sudden flood of 5-star reviews. Talk to actual residents. Most of us left because the management is unprofessional, unresponsive, and downright rude.

Great location, wonderful neighbors — but unless management changes, this building isn’t worth...

Luxury living at the Lofts at Noho!

I lived here for a year and I will be honest, the building does seem super nice, it isn’t!

There are ongoing issues of all sorts. I lived here for exactly one year, and heard the fire alarms go off at least 20 times. I’m still getting emails about that issue not being resolved. This was the #1 reason I left. Fire alarms at 2 am, 10 pm, 8 am, 3pm, you name it.

The water has been shut off a number of times, to the entire building, for leaks? I noticed a downpour of water in the garage every time. So be careful where you park, especially if you have a motorcycle.

There was also an entire weekend I spent without internet. Which was LUXURIOUS!

The garage is also often filled with piles of trash for months at a time. Post Christmas there were trees in the garage until February, along with a number of large items.

The staff is extremely friendly, until they aren’t. I’ve had noise issues, moved in with a number of repair issues, had a mailbox key that didn’t work for a long time, and getting help resolving the issue took months. I felt legitimately bad for the staff, until I told them I was moving out.

They attempted to add a $108 monthly charge for cable for the last three months that I lived there. I don’t have cable, it’s not in my lease, and they just tried to start it in the middle of my contract. I had to have five separate conversations with them, and a printed copy of my lease in order to not be charged.

I tried to schedule a move out inspection, that was never scheduled. They tried to charge me for extra rent because they didn’t tell me how to return the keys, and they were extremely rude.

It’s a lot of shady/underhanded business practices. With an apartment complex that clearly needs a lot of repair that it’s not getting. For $2k, you can do better...

By far the worst management company I have ever leased with. They will steal your money from you and lie to your face about it. I literally had to threaten to sue them and they still cheated me my deposit back. -First the management team there is highly unorganized, unprofessional, and could care less about you. Briana isn’t bad but Lean and the other women always confused, rude and never helpful.

-Second I hope you like flies because this place is FULL of them. Would kill on average 10 flies a day in the apartment l, complained and nothing was done. -Third the gym looks good at first glance until you realize almost every equipment is broken sticky and dirty.

If you move every year don’t go here. They will tell you to repaint the entire apartment and then charge you to repaint it anyways because you didn’t stay longer than 2 years. -we cleaned the apartment for our deposits back and they still tried to overcharge us for a professional cleaning. I HAD to cite the California renters law for them to see that they WRONGFULLY withheld 80% of our deposit. The deposit they finally sent after threatening to sue was “lost” in the mail. It took almost 3 MONTHS to get a deposit back and it was $25 short. They have since then stop responding to my emails.

This place is not with the headache you will get. There are cheaper better places with better management. Someone warned us moving in not to do it, and now I’m warning you. Choose another place and don’t move here unless you like to be lied to and money...
