EDIT 2023: It breaks my heart to write this and edit my review. This was once one of my absolute favorite places to visit - on Earth. Everybody who worked there knew the product, was passionate about LEGO and was friendly. There have been a number of changes lately and unfortunately the overall experience is just completely different. Most of the people who work here don't seem to know much about the company or the product. They aren't cheerful or very helpful anymore. It used to be vibrant and bright. Now it's lackluster and not as bustling. Employees don't understand current promotions and they don't seem to possess the spirit of LEGO. I left without my items because it got so awkward. This location has lost its magic.
Original: I'm a little biased, because I grew up in the 80's with LEGO and it was my favorite toy that wasn't an action figure. That said, this particular store location is incredible in every conceivable way. They are gracious hosts every time I come here with my son, which is more often than is normal.
LEGO, as a company, is remarkably generous and that mindset trickles down to store level - it's abundant. Customer service has been unparalleled here and every employee is knowledgeable about product and company news. I'm always impressed with the way they act with children (and adults), engaging and interested. I've never had a bad time here, and I've actually made several friends just by being in the store.
The product line is always diverse and plentiful. You can, by the way, buy different bricks off the Pick-A-Brick wall, which rotates often, offering great opportunities for kids and adults to create their own designs. You can build your own Minifigures and buy them in packs of 3 to take home. It goes...
Read moreI love Lego Stores! Every time I go out, I make sure to pass by one. This Lego Store in particular is very clean and well kept. This is backed up with an amazing staff, except for one girl.
There was this one female employee who made me feel uncomfortable. It was a Saturday afternoon. I was at the pick-a-brick section in the back of the store picking up bricks. Later on, my mate tells me that one female employee said to me behind my back in a rude voice, "Okay, you can just pretend you can't hear me." Apparently she was trying to catch my attention because she was handing out magazines. I did not hear her for I have bad hearing and the Lego Store was loud and busy at the time. I just let it go, everyone makes mistakes.
Few minutes later, it was my mates turn to pick some Lego's and all I hear this female employee say hi to a group of people coming into the store. The group didn't respond, she said the same thing once again with a rude voice, almost as if insulting the group.
I found it completely unprofessional to be doing this. This was the first time in a Lego Store I have met an employee like this. If an employee is going to say insults, please tell them to say it to the customers face next time and see what happens. Otherwise, keep your thoughts to yourself...
Read moreI walked into the LEGO store in Topanga Plaza today and had the worst experience. I would give them negative stars if I could. First let me say I understand that there are capacity levels right now and I would’ve waited if there was someone at the door. I walked in with my son who was super happy to be there and 3 people walked in after us. Then a guy yells at us across the store saying you two have to leave!!! What? We were here first. Ok so I step outside the store trying not to get upset. Then I see him and the 2 other workers just wondering around the store. People are leaving the store and he still doesn’t check the line outside. He finally comes out and I ask him why did he ask us to leave when we were there first? Oh I didn’t see that. Who’s the manager? Me. Really? You have no control over your floor. You don’t even know how many people are in your store, yet felt the need to yell at me and my son. He told me we’re understaffed, trying our best, etc. Really?? So your best is yelling at us and embarrassing us??? If you’re a manager... manage your floor which includes your door. There was no reason someone couldn’t be watching the door. I don’t know if LEGO thinks it’s acceptable to be discriminatory because that’s how I felt. This is so unacceptable...
