I did The Manor and The Spaceship with two different groups on two separate weeknights. Both were fun themes and pretty linear, which is great for anyone doing an escape room for the first time. The capacity for both of these rooms is 6 players, and at the time of this review they have a special deal of $150 for 6 players. Because the gameplay of both of these rooms is linear, I feel it would be better with 4 or less players so that everyone has enough tasks and no one is left idle, but the set-dressing is good enough to keep everyone entertained. They have a parking lot with around 10 spots in total, as well as street parking, so parking is pretty easy, even if multiple groups are there at a time. There are some small lockers to fit your jackets and small bags in, but larger stuff like backpacks should be left in the trunk of your car. The staff is chill and nice, but they don't get super into their themed roles if that's important to you.
The Manor has some role-play, but it's not super involved, as in you don't have to commit to being in-character if you don't want to. The roles just add to the plot and are relevant to some puzzles. Without spoiling too much, there are some narrative puzzles as well as some prop-type of puzzles, which makes the experience super immersive. The parts where you have to crawl (not wheelchair accessible, as stated on their site) were the most fun for me. One of my friends accidentally activated a different puzzle too early by pulling a little too hard on a wire that wasn't supposed to be pulled, and then another time did something to make an already finicky morse-code device malfunction, but our game master was kind enough to pause our game and come in to fix both things. Everyone was a good sport about it, so it didn't take away from the experience for us. Aside from that, overall this room was very well-designed!
The Spaceship is less role-play-y but was still fun. The game masters explained beforehand that a lot of the buttons you see in the room are decoration and not meant to be functional, and that the actual functional parts of the game would be more obvious. This checked out when we started the game, but there were still some parts that weren't so obvious. We ended up using a hint (you get 3 total but they aren't strict about it) at the beginning for this reason, which felt like a waste once we realized what it was. There was another part of the game towards the end where we couldn't tell if something was malfunctioning or not, but we figured it out eventually with enough free "gentle" clues from our GM. We still had a good time regardless.
Overall I had a pleasant experience. There were a couple puzzles in each room that I felt didn't have the most sound logic but other people in my group were able to figure out. Both rooms are also pretty dark, even with the available light sources, so they aren't strict about you using your phone for extra light, especially if you're visually impaired. Both rooms are listed as medium difficulty, but The Spaceship felt a little easier. I'm curious about their third room, The Cabin (also medium difficulty), so I'll probably be back again in the near future. This was my first escape game post-pandemic, so this was very refreshing. Thanks...
Read moreFirst of all, I’ve been to over 20 escape rooms around the country and this one has to be among the best but also the most challenging, especially if you show up with half the party size. Seriously folks, don’t try and three-people the manor because you’ll BARELY make it.
The rooms: there are three rooms and we loved the first one so much, we did all of them over the course of two weeks. All have distinct stories, with relevant props and intricate setups. They have REALLY invested in the rooms and the props. Very original and compelling.
The puzzles: each room had a diverse set of puzzles - I mean everything from magnetic activation, ciphers, a Morse code machine, black lights, film projectors and several different kinds of locks.
The hosts: they run the game with a lot of excitement and go by the motto that the experience is setup to be a fun time at the end of the day. For example, If you show up with less than half the party size, they are more forgiving and will nudge you in the right direction when you’ve basically solved a puzzle so you don’t waste too much precious time in implementation.
Just a blast and a must-try for anyone into escape rooms as much as we are. If this is your first time, make sure you bring a full party, but definitely doable by a bunch of more experienced...
Read moreAmazing time had by our group of 6 aged from 11-58. When we arrived we thought maybe getting in the business itself was part of the game & we stood outside ringing the doorbell and knocking and after a couple minutes the staff came and let us in telling us the door was literally open lol. So we did not have high hopes for ourselves for the actual game but they were awesome about it and apparently we're not the first group that's happened to, so fyi the front door is open. As far as the game itself we played the cabin and had so much fun from the start. The actor Danny was amazing and actually really scared all of us. He was really great about getting everyone involved and keeping in character. He even yelled at me to stop doubting myself and I honestly feel like I owe them more money for how therapeutic it was to be yelled at by a serial killer to believe in yourself! We needed lots of help but we ended up getting out of the room with a minute to spare! We will definitely be back to play another room!...
