Would have given this spot 5 stars a couple months ago when I first started coming here because their coffee really is good.
But the owner/manager definitely needs to spend more time training new hires and making sure they know the universal basics of coffee making. I have noticed the past few times I’ve come that some of the employees are completely lost. Yesterday I ordered an oat milk cappuccino. The guy that rang me up had no idea where to start so he called over someone to help him. The second guy started making my drink and I noticed him mixing in some powders. When I tried it, and it clearly wasn’t a cappuccino, I asked him what he put in it. He told me “Cappuccino… oat milk and nesquick!” When I asked them to remake it and literally had to explain what a cappuccino was, the other guy tried to tell me that “some people order it like that”… No guy, no one orders their cappuccinos like that.
Please take the time to train your employees. Unfortunately, I don’t think I will...
Read moreThis place is hilarious, zero shame. If you order a matcha latte or any latte, they just give you a cup of straight up milk ($7, medium). Every single time without fail. I actually get a kick out of it and go back for entertainment purposes to test how far they’ll take it and they manage to get worse every time. At this point it’s a well oiled scam hidden behind a smile. A medium matcha latte should be GREEN or even LIGHT GREEN!!!!!!!, NOT WHITE. I even mix it like a madman and it’s still white. You own a coffee shop, do yourself a favor go to other shops like Reborn and look at the color of their matcha latte and compare it to yours. Heck even Starbucks’ is green. Please stop scamming people, no one wants to pay $7 for a cup of milk. A gallon at the store is cheaper. I’m not one to leave reviews so I will delete this in a few months once I come back to confirm the...
Read moreMy partner is constantly looking for cute coffee shops to work at around the valley. Today we checked out Cara Vana and its a hidden gem. It's North of the main arts district portion of Lankershim. Street parking only, but not hard to find a spot within a block (no meters!). The staff (I believe owners actually) are all very friendly. The food is made in house to order, which I love and was surprised by, as most coffee shops have premade items that they reheat. I had the breakfast sandwich w. bacon- perfect friend egg, delicious cilantro sauce, lots of fresh spinach. The interior and back patio are well designed, cute and comfortable, there is a lot of interior space and exterior space making it a great place to work. And reliable internet! Check out their photos, I don't know that posting my own will add anything that hasn't...
