I embarked on a journey to experience possibly the number one whiskey in the world, Jack Danielās. Iām huge on travel and figured I might be Jackās next fan, so that was enough to draw me in!
The parking was free, so that was an excellent start! There was even a shuttle that took us to the building for free! It was basically across the street, so it was a quick ride.
I had the pleasure of going here with my significant other. We purchased The Flight Of Jack Tour. It was an educational, lengthy tour to say the least.
They took our photograph towards the beginning of the tour. We began our long walk after that. I ended up trying a spray of moonshine, so that was interesting for Jack Danielās Distillery to offer. It was super strong, so take caution if you have the chance to try it. If youāre like me, itās pretty hard to pass up something thatās free.
Later on in the tour, we got to smell from a whiskey drum. Let me tell you, it was a scent that Iāll almost never forget. Iād like to say more, but I would rather not scare you. If youāre offered to do it, you should just be brave and do it. Iām sure you would regret it later if you didnāt.
Towards the end of our tour, we went in a barrel room. It was insane how many barrels they had in there. I loved the way they had the barrels lined up. It was soothing in a weird way. Maybe I was just excited to try their whiskey, though. I tried Jack Danielās Old No.7 Brand from a barrel. That was an excellent way to experience whiskey! It had a smooth and enjoyable taste, as I assumed it would.
After we viewed that barrel room, we moved on to the tasting portion of the tour. There were six flavors on our palette to try. The flavors were Jack Danielās Gentleman Jack, Jack Danielās Old No.7 Brand, Jack Danielās Barrel Aged Rye, Jack Danielās Tennessee Honey, Jack Danielās Tennessee Fire, and Jack Danielās Tennessee Apple. There was a specific way to conduct the tasting, so that made things a little more interesting. They all had a warm taste to them in their own unique way! I enjoyed them all, but Jack Danielās Tennessee Apple was my favorite! It just really stood out to me a bit more than the others and seemed as if it had a built-in formula to provide a lighter bite. They gave a cup of water next to my palette, but that didnāt do much for me with the bites of all these whiskeys.
After our tasting, we approached the photos area to check out our photos. Of course, I couldnāt pass up on them, as this was truly an unforgettable experience. I purchased a package that included multiple photos and a Key Chain. The price was pretty steep, but it almost had to be done. I didnāt want to upset my significant other. She was having a good hair day.
After we passed the photos area, we came across the White Rabbit Bottle Shop. I purchased a 750mL bottle of Jack Danielās Gentleman Jack. It was a nice, organized shop. It wasnāt too big, but it was sweet and to the point. I later drank from the bottle at home. It had the same smooth flavor as it did from the tasting.
Our tour guide was friendly and informative. He led the tour productively from start to finish. Our group was small, so I feel we got to interact with him more personally than we would have if the tour was designed to hold a larger amount of people.
Overall, this tour took me by surprise! It made for a good time and Iām glad it was my first distillery tour. If youāre in Tennessee and have the chance, you should check this place out! Iād love to go again someday!

I had the pleasure of experiencing both the Distillery Tour and the Innovation Tour at Jack Danielās, and it was an unforgettable journey through the brandās rich history and its exciting innovations in whiskey-making.
Jack Danielās Distillery: Tradition Meets Craftsmanship š
Founded in 1866 in Lynchburg, Tennessee, Jack Danielās is famous for its unique whiskey-making process. One of its signature techniques is charcoal mellowing, where whiskey is filtered through sugar maple charcoal for a smooth, rich taste. The distillery also draws water from an underground spring, rich in minerals, giving the whiskey a distinctive flavor. Set in a scenic valley, the distillery immerses you in the history and legacy of this legendary brand.
Distillery Tour: A Deep Dive into Whiskey-Making š
The Distillery Tour lasts about two hours, taking you through every step of the whiskey-making process. We got to see the fermentation, distillation, and mellowing stages up close, and learn about the vital role of the unique water source and charcoal mellowing in creating Jack Danielās signature smoothness. This tour gave me a true appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into each bottle of whiskey. š§
Innovation Tour: Tasting New Whiskey Styles š„
On the Innovation Tour, we sampled five different whiskeys from the Distillery Series, each showing off Jack Danielās innovative approach to whiskey-making: High Toast Oak Barrels ā A bold, intense rye whiskey with flavors of caramel, vanilla, and wood. A great pick for those who love a strong flavor profile. š„ Toasted Pecan Wood Chips ā Sweet and smooth with notes of caramel, honey, and roasted nuts. This one is perfect for those who enjoy a sweeter, milder whiskey. š AƱejo Tequila Barrels ā Finished in AƱejo tequila barrels, this whiskey brings out refreshing citrus and herbal flavors, with a distinct tequila essence. šµ Oloroso Sherry Casks ā The smoothest and sweetest of the bunch, with raisin, caramel, and nutty flavors. This one quickly became my favorite for its soft, balanced taste. ā¤ļø Twice Barreled Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey ā Double-barreled for a rich, spicy flavor with layers of complexity. The boldest and most intense whiskey in the series. š„š„
Tradition Meets Innovation
Both tours highlighted Jack Danielās commitment to tradition and innovation. The Distillery Tour provided a deeper understanding of the timeless processes that have made this whiskey a global favorite, while the Innovation Tour showcased the brandās drive to push boundaries and experiment with new flavors. It was amazing to see how the brand blends its rich history with a forward-thinking approach to whiskey.
Conclusion: A Must-See for Whiskey Lovers
These two tours gave me a fuller understanding of what makes Jack Danielās so special, from the rich history of the distillery to the exciting innovations shaping the future of whiskey. Whether youāre a fan of classic whiskey or keen to try new styles, both tours are an absolute must for any...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe did the All About the Barrel experience tour last weekend with some friends that were visiting from out of state. We booked the tour online a few weeks before the visit which was super convenient. I got emails and a call from Lacey with reminders and useful information leading up to the visit. Once there the check in was pretty smooth. Our tour guide Justin was phenomenal! Engaging, funny and extremely knowledgeable; I donāt think there was a question asked that he wasnāt able to answer. The All About the Barrel experience is so much more comprehensive that the standard tour which iāve done before (about 3 year ago), first we went into one of the active production barrel houses where we learned about the barreling process and nuances that make the different types of Jack Danielās whiskeys different from each other, then we got a seasonal drink (They had Hot Chocolate and Warm Cider with Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire whiskey available for our visit. THE best adult hot chocolate iāve had in my life btw. Perfect chocolate to whiskey ratio and drinkable temperature.) We then joined parts of the regular tour trail for the history of Jack Daniels and the whiskey making process from making their own charcoal to bottling the final product. Then we made it to the tasting part of the experience where we got to taste four single barrel and one sold out special edition twice barreled whiskies. The tasting was guided which made it super interesting how you can prepare the palette to taste the different flavors in each one. We got to take home a shot glass and a wood coaster, a souvenir picture and a barrel stave all included in the tour price. Overall 10/10 would...
