I had the pleasure recently of visiting the Jack Daniels Distilery in Lynchburg TN. The Visitors Center is an impressive building with lots of artifacts and history re the making of whiskey. It includes a large section devoted to former slave Nathan Green aka “Uncle Nearest” and his role in teaching young “Jasper” Daniels how to distill whiskey!
We went on one of their guided tours which lasted almost 2 hours but was well worth the time.
Our tour guide was Courtney. She is from the area and has worked there a long time. So she knows the history and stories. She was very funny and wrapped the facts (and gossip) around some humor!
The tour ended in their impressive tasting room where we all got to sample 6 different JD whiskey blends. Great way to end the...
Read moreIt is "must see" if you are anywhere near it. Beautiful country setting and great tours. We were in Nashville and took the 90 minute drive up there. It was really raining, Nashville ended up flooded!! It is walking distance to the little downtown area that has a few restaurants. Unfortunately, we ended up with a tour that was 90% outdoors, but the weather cooperated most of the time. We had a great tour guide in Xavier. He really loved his work and you could tell by the excitement in his voice. He projected well as there were 15 of us in the group. Read moreWe had a wonderful experience! The grounds are much larger than I anticipated, but are gorgeous! Unfortunately, we did not go on a tour but we did partake in a tasting. Matt was a phenomenal host! He was friendly and you could sense his passion for whiskey and his love for Jack Daniels. Our tasting was fun! He made it so enjoyable, telling us how to savor, the distilling process for each type, and the best ways to imbibe. He was even kind enough to take our picture. In fact, everyone was so friendly. Debbie, who took our tickets and let us into the tasting room was friendly and joking with us, as if we weren’t strangers but old friends. 10/10 would recommend. We’re coming back for a longer stay and definitely going to...
