Volunteers with Kaleidoscope Theater put together a summer camp every year, for children from the community, who are interested in theater (in addition to several other performances throughout the year showcasing actors from our community). I was there today to see the summer camp performances. As usual, they were great. The volunteers put in a lot of work & terrific with the kids. My daughter really looks forward to attending their camp, it is the highlight of her summer. This was their first performance in the new theater (the old one was a hurricane Michael casualty). The new facilities are beautiful & they will be back to performing regularly so if you can catch one of their shows this year you absolutely should! You will enjoy it & you will be helping to support a great organization & the amazing people behind it, who give their all, to ensure that the people of our community (& anyone else who is interested; vacationers... wink, wink) are able to learn about & experience the beauty & art...
Read moreWe have gone to Kaleidoscope many times over the years and most of the time they have been really good. However, we went to see Hairspray last night and I must say that the production was excellent. There were some of the best singers I have seen in local theater and it made for an outstanding performance. Hairspray is aged and it shows.
Being over 50, I got all of the nuanced references, but I imagine a millennial would not. However, this does not distract from the quality of the musical and the themes that were being fought for at that time (racial equality and women's rights). Go see it.

Read moreWhat a wonderful experience! I’m sad that I have waited so long to go to this local treasure of a theater. Went to see “She Kills Monsters” and the cast did amazing. It was a surprise it was so nice in there also. The foyer was beautiful and bright. The stadium seating inside with plush seats was lovely also.
