There are never clean towels, even when it is slow. There is orange bacteria build-up on the water-fountain spouts. The locker room is disgusting, with stagnant water puddles everywhere. Sinks and mirrors are filthy. As of today 2 of the 6 showers have broken shower heads and there is never any soap in the dispensers. Also, the drains are covered in hair and thick white build-up (you can guess what that is). Their janitorial staff don't do a good job. There is urine all over the bathroom floor and janitors just slosh around a wet mop, dip it back into the bucket of filthy mop-water, and call it a day. There are no hygiene standards and it would be a miracle if they passed a health inspection. Lockers are broken into frequently with items stolen. No Wi-Fi. The steam sauna hasn't worked in over a year. The basketball courts are filled with ghetto rats taking advantage of the "bring a friend for free" thing, every day - or they let them in the back emergency doors (there are no cameras to catch that). So you can wait an hour to play one game courtesy of the 40 people sitting on the sidelines who have already called next game but aren't paying for memberships. The employees are too scared to enforce and manage that. Frequently the basketball and locker areas smell like fresh weed - so someone is bringing it in to sell or they won't leave their weed in their car. Front desk employees spend most of their time socializing or on their cell phones. The free-weight area and machine areas are littered with large duffel bags because people carry their bags with them rather than have them stolen - which means it is impossible to walk around without tripping. The clientele there have zero gym etiquette and will put 600 lbs on the leg press, move it 3 inches for 3 reps, and walk away, leaving all of the weight on. The employees must not feel it is their place to tell people to re-rack their weights, or X-Sport must not have a policy because they know their clientele is so low-rate. This is common practice whether it's a squat rack, bench, or any other free weight equipment. Overall I gave 2 stars because it has good equipment and the potential to be a great gym, but the employees are so disinterested and it's such a revolving door that they have ruined a good thing. It wasn't like this when it opened in this location over 10 years ago.
I also gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the pool is adequate.
Unless you need a 24 hour gym, do yourself a favor and join a mom-and-pop local gym if there is one...
Read moreI had a problem specific with the branch at Lyons, IL. I need it help to start training. I went and talked to a really nice salesperson in this location, I told him I need to lose weight and had not workout in 5 years. His answer was "no problem, we have a professional team of trainers to help you reach your goals", so I bought 10 training sessions and since the first one I felt we had a problem. To start, the trainer never asked me or made a assessment about my fitness conditions, I told him I had pain on my shoulder, was recovering from a fall on March. Regardless, he was telling me to do this exercises, without a concrete plan or evident target on mind, no wonder I got hurt at the second session, took me 3 weeks to deal with the pain and recover to get back to the gym. I asked to get changed of trainer and they sent me to a young girl, nice but evidently just out of the training school I took one session whit her, then she quit her job. They assigned me a third trainer, nice young girl but she was unavailable for a second session, they wanted to send me to a different guy, by then I had enough, I wanted to cut my loses and get my money back for the rest of 6 sessions left. Turns out they told me that it's a NO... they called me twice trying to get me back to another trainer but I feel I'm wasting my time and money... and I don't like this!!! I get every person/case it's different , but if you are in need of help to get in shape, be careful what are you paying for at this location, be as specific as you can and be sure you ask questions and receive answers. My personal experience with Xsport Fitness at Lyons, IL....
Read moreI'm so upset with this location. I went there excited to join and the customer service was HORRIBLE!!!! everyone just standing around, there's no real sense of urgency to help the customer. The workers always put tasks before the customer. I went in to start my membership and after five minutes of standing and not being greeted, someone finally asked: ”what will I like?” I told them I wanted to start a membership. The young lady handed me the application and told me to go sit and wait for someone to come me. Didn't think to express some form of enthusiasm about gaining another customer, then once I sat with the salesman I believe he was, it was a very dull and boring interaction, didn't asked me a question about myself, and what bought me to the gym. Then had me sign some’s paper and said ”I’m all set. I went to asked him question he gave me half answer. Come to find out he later charge my card when I left verse doing it while I was there and proceeded to charge my card 39.00 seven days before I was supposed to be charge. You all really need to train your workers about how it’s important to make sure they all give each customer a great experience, and make sure you salesman are thoroughly handling there customer correct. One way is by making sure their customer leaves with peace of mind knowing that salesman when about things the first time. I will be contacting corporate and...
