This Roman Catholic parish has been on Mackinac Island for years, and has amassed a wealth of historical artifacts and information. There has been a "Saint Anne" Parish serving the Roman Catholic community in various locations in Mackinaw City, Fort Michilimackinac, and Mackinac Island for almost four centuries. The parish on Mackinac Island continues this Mission and is the successor to the very first missionaries who arrived from France in the 1600s. The church is absolutely beautiful and daily mass is available at 11am, which we attended. However, a hidden gem in the basement of the church is the small but detailed museum they have dedicated to the faith life of Saint Anne's Parish. The information and artifacts go back to the early Jesuit missionaries in the 1600s. There's also a quaint gift shop that has many religious gifts, books, cards, and also texts about the ministry of the Roman Catholic Church in northern Michigan. Admission to both the church and the museum are free but donations are encouraged. An excellent stop for anyone!

Beautiful Catholic Church on Mackinac Island. The architecture and ornamentation is impressive and worth seeing especially given the structure's age and comparative remoteness. They had to drag the thing across the ice from the mainland after all! The stained glass and painting inside is just beautiful! The museum downstairs is definitely worth looking at as well. There are a number of historically significant artifacts, some recovered from the lake, some which have been kept at the church through the years (through centuries in several cases). If you're on the island even just for the day this is worth stopping by.

Beautiful Catholic Church with some history. Unfortunately, we were unable to attend Mass because they scheduled a funeral during the scheduled Mass time - something we've never experienced before. But we did get to walk around and visit the museum in the basement. There are a lot of tourists who visit this parish, they might consider posting signs about staying off of the sanctuary and presiders chair. Lovely old church.

Great old church with amazing history. You can feel the history of the building. The charm of the island continues to the pews. I heard someone complain that parts of the church were rundown, but a building as old as this surrounded by water...itd going to be a challenge keeping thing look new. The very small congregation was welcoming to all us traveler's. I highly recommend, even if you are not catholic.

Beautiful and peaceful. I am not Catholic, however, I am Christian and enjoyed the peaceful experience devoted to prayer in this church. I love that it's open for prayer and visiting during times other than their daily service. I also am very happy to see they have once a week night services for the Jamaican community who are often seasonal service workers on the Island. Awesome!

Simply beautiful. Walking in the church it gave me sense of peace and serenity. The church has prayer candles available. If you need a minute for yourself please take a moment to go inside this beautiful church.
