I'm updating my review. My previous experience was on a Saturday evening, but I returned this time on a Tuesday night. It was open mic night and the vibe and performers were really entertaining and inspiring. There was no booking fee, a lower minimum charge, and wine bottles were half off, so it felt like a pretty good deal. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and this time we sat farther away from the stage in a booth against the wall, so the music wasn't as loud, which made the evening more enjoyable. Overall it was a very good experience and I would recommend giving this place a try.
Previous review: I was excited to visit JazzTastings with my partner to celebrate his birthday, but we were unfortunately and surprisingly disappointed by the experience. I made a reservation a week ahead, paying the $20 deposit to secure our table. When we arrived at the venue, we waited in front of the hostess stand for several minutes, while the hostess did not lookup or acknowledge our presence. Eventually she asked very shortly "Last name?" (still not looking at/acknowledging us) then instructed some one else to seat us. We were seated at a table in the second row. We watched several other couples that were seated promptly in the row in front of us, greeted by their server, and had water brought to their tables. Finally the same hostess who ignored us when we entered came over and introduced herself as our server, Michelle. The service and food proceeded to be disappointing. My partner ordered a cocktail and I ordered a glass of wine. The server asked if I wanted to order the bottle instead and I declined. When she brought our drinks, my glass of wine was barely a tasting pour, literally less than 2 oz. I watched several other tables that were served wine by the glass where the pour was the standard amount, so it didn't seem to the case that the place is generally stingy with the wine. I ordered the miso swordfish for my entree and it was overcooked and chewy, disappointing for a $47 dish. As far as the music, the band was good but unfortunately the audio was extremely loud, making it hard to enjoy. My partner who is a U.S. Marine ended up having a flare up of his tinnitus due to the loud volume. The server didn't return to our table (although we saw her visit several tables near by) so eventually I had to get up and flag her down to ask for the check. To top it off, the included 20% gratuity didn't allow us to decide whether to tip based on our actual experience. It seemed like we were oddly and unfairly singled out to receive bad service and not welcomed as customers. I unfortunately cannot recommend this...
Read moreMy husband and I recently spent a wonderful evening at Jazz Tastings in Maitland, and it exceeded all our expectations! We called ahead for reservations, which made everything smooth from the start. The outdoor area was beautiful and inviting, but the real magic happened once we stepped inside. The interior was spacious, with plenty of seating options, including spots right up front near the band and cozy booths along the walls. We chose to sit a bit further from the band so we could chat comfortably without being too close to the music, and it was perfect.
Our server, Maya, greeted us right away, and she was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable. She let us know happy hour was ending in 10 minutes, so we ordered quickly to catch the deals. We started with sweet chili calamari and buffalo tenders. The buffalo tenders were delicious, fried to perfection with a side of ranch, and my husband enjoyed both appetizers.
For the main course, we both took advantage of the Tuesday half-off “Wagyo Burger” and fries special, which included a choice of soda or beer. I opted for a soda, and my husband enjoyed a cold ultralight beer. Tuesday nights also feature half-off wine bottles, so we couldn’t resist sharing one. The Wagyo burger was cooked to a perfect medium, juicy, and topped with just the right amount of aioli, while the fries were crispy, well-seasoned, and simply delicious.
The jazz music added to the evening’s charm, with the singer engaging with the crowd and creating a warm, lively atmosphere. It was a fantastic night with great food, excellent service, and memorable music. We can’t wait to return, and we’ll definitely ask...
Read moreI just wanna say the music was wonderful(main reason why we went) but everything else need some SERIOUS work. What I’m upset is we made a reservation and no mention of a cover fee it’s when we arrived and saw the sign. That wasn’t a problem it’s not something uncommon. The menu wasn’t that great and unbelievably overpriced and the waitress told us before hand we should order a lot because the portions are small. Mid way through the music a gentleman told us that we need to order $15 per person to stay then walked away. Excuse...what I’m already $20 in from my drink (let’s not forget I didn’t get my exact drink and instead of informing that their out and if i want something else...noooo don’t do that)and cover not including my overpriced appetizer to share with my partner and you’re telling that we have to order more(we came to listen to music not only to eat). The menu not even that appetizing. We called the waitress over to confirm what we heard and she had no idea what we were talking about and had to go confirm herself(side-eye). She came back and apologize she said we need to spend $15 each Ok, fine why wasn’t this informed when making the reservation or when set down(we told her it’s been a while since we’ve been here when she asked if it’s ours first time here) where is it marked a $15 minimum. It’s marked nowhere by the way. If we were told this before we could have made a choice not when we’re drinks and appetizers in then you want to make up rules to make people spend more money ridiculous. It makes sense why the waitress said we need to order more because the “portions are small” anyway we paid our...
