Order: Appetizer Sampler Platter for 2 (Hummus Baba Ganoush, Dolmades, Greek Egg Rolls, Falafel), Kofta Burger, Donner Pita (Beef and Lamb mix) Price: $40 Positives: Great food, unique Baba Ganoush, exceptionally nice people, really cool set up Negatives: COVID tldr: An absolutely fantastic place for greek food, with the insanity of COVID they’ve even set up a sort of drive through making it a top tier place for greek food to go. If you want greek street food, this is your place.
Thoughts: My wife and I headed down to Orlando to spend some time with our nieces while they were in the states and, of course, had to try a few new places to eat while we were at it. Mediterranean Street Food seemed pretty interesting, and we both love mediterranean/Greek so we decided to give it a shot.
The building is super unique, it is a stand alone building in the center of a parking lot, with several picnic tables nearby. I don’t know if they have this all the time, but due to COVID they also had a drive through set up so you could call ahead and then grab your food without ever getting out of the car. Erin and I didn’t opt to do this as we often prefer sitting down while we eat, so we grabbed one of the picnic tables next to the building. Both the building and the picnic tables are painted with murals, lending the area a super cool artsy vibe that works with the Mediterranean theme. It was honestly just a wonderfully colorful building, on top of having great food.
After perusing their options we decided we were hungry enough to apparently order half the menu and then sat down to wait for our food. In the meantime several of the people working there came out to see if we needed anything and halfway through our meal the owners and some friends sat at the picnic table not too far from us. While eating they noticed we didn’t have any bottled water so without asking they went and got us some and put it at our table just in case we needed it. The entire staff seemed exceptionally friendly and tries to do more than was required to make the meal enjoyable. I’m not talking about “just good” service; they nailed it in a Chick-fil-A service kind of way.
It didn’t take too long for the food to come out and it was all delicious. My wife ordered the kofta burger and said that it was one of her favorite burgers she had ever eaten in her life. It is a very unique take on a burger because it is mixed with Mediterranean spices and has a very “spiced” (not to be mistaken for spicy) flavor to it. It shares some of its flavors with the seasoning that goes in Falafel. It was exceptionally good but I can imagine that some people wouldn’t love it, especially if they’re looking for a “standard American burger”. The other interesting dish was their baba ganoush, which had more of a salsa consistency than any thing else I’ve ever had. It was almost like a chunky baba ganoush and, while that might sound odd, it was fantastic. The donor pita was cooked deliciously and the dolamdes were practically perfect. Honestly there were only two things that we weren’t head over heels about. The hummus was just a tad on the plane side, still really good but nothing to jump out of your car about. And for us, the eggrolls were just a little too salty. We prefer things far less salty than most people so this probably wouldn’t be an issue for anyone else.
Overall Mediterranean street food was fantastic and we even talked about going back despite only being in Orlando for three days. It will absolutely go on our list of favorite restaurants to visit went back in the city and I would highly encourage everybody else to make a trip...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of grabbing some lunch with my son at Mediterranean Street Food by Sishco in Maitland, FL, and overall, the experience was not bad. This hidden gem, nestled in a small shopping center, offers an authentic taste of Mediterranean cuisine that is hard to come by.
Authentic Taste: At first bite the rich and vibrant flavors took me by surprise. The falafel had a wonderful crunch was delightfully filling, My son had the Gyro bowl and his take highlights the flavor and how filling it was, each dish was a testament to the authenticity that Sishco prides itself on, making it a must-try for anyone who appreciates Mediterranean street food.
Generous Portions: One of the highlights was the generous portion sizes. Whether you opt for a wrap, platter, or bowl, you’ll find yourself with more than enough to satisfy your hunger. The value for money is impressive, especially considering the quality of the ingredients used. I left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied, which is always a plus!
Great Sauces: The sauces at Sishco deserve a special mention. The tahini and spicy sauces were equally delicious and complemented the dishes perfectly. It’s clear that a lot of thought goes into their sauce selection, elevating the overall dining experience.
Service: The service was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu.
Ambiance: While the food and service were excellent, the ambiance left a bit to be desired. It’s located in the center of a parking lot in a small shopping center, which detracts from the experience just a little. The decor feels a bit dated, and the tables appear old and worn. Additionally, on warmer days, the seating can get quite hot, making it less comfortable during peak hours. The view is nothing to brag about, as it overlooks the parking lot rather than any scenic landscape.
Music: On a brighter note, the music playing on the speakers background was fantastic! It created a lively atmosphere that complemented the vibrant flavors of the food. It was upbeat but not overpowering, allowing for a pleasant dining experience.
Conclusion: In conclusion, Mediterranean Street Food by Sishco is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Mediterranean flavors at a great value. The generous portions, delicious sauces, and excellent service truly stand out. Just be prepared for a less-than-perfect ambiance, as it could use a little refreshing. Regardless, I highly recommend giving this place a try—you won’t be...
Read moreWow. Incredible food and for the price (as of now, 2025), incredible portions! Went here for the first time last night after my fiancée found it on TikTok and got great service and equally great meals! I got the doner gyro bowl combo and my fiancée got the chicken shish kebab bowl combo, both choosing fries. Even though we got take out since the shop was closing, we stayed to eat a little bit while it was fresh in the nice, chic outdoor eating area (complete with music playing in the background). The food was so good, my fiancée kept trying to stop eating more so she could save some for later, but had a hard time putting her fork down! Meanwhile, I was so entranced by the delicious meat, I ate almost half of it before making myself stop! The veggies were crunchy and flavorful, so I know the salads they offer are gonna taste bomb too!
As dor the rest of the the meal combo, the main dishes weren't the only things that stood out! The seasoned fries are some of the best I've had and very crispy. The hibiscus drink I got with the combo was so friggin good, I ended up finishing it all there unfortunately! If they had an option to add rum in it, it'd make a good ass sorrel (and satisfy the tastes of my Jamaican/Trini fiancée 😅)! They have deals for different days, so coming on a Friday meant one of the combos were half off with a BOGO 50% off deal!
Now that we've moved to northern Orlando, places like this are 20 minutes or less for a nice impulse eat if the craving comes. This will definitely not be our last time coming here! Kudos to the service and cook(s?) for this damn good Mediterranean food! Just be sure to coming early since the parking situation at the plaza is kind of tragic (probably because of the OTHER the yummy-looking establishments it...
