Great free dog beach. Dogs must be leashed at all times. There's a nice but small section of beach to walk and play. Some may prefer sneakers or water shoes because there are rocky sections of the beach. The waves are small and it's ideal for playing fetch in the water. The end of the dog beach is clearly marked by a fence post and in direct sight of the park ranger building. A ranger will come right down and ask you to stay in the marked area. I often see fishermen in the area just beyond the dog beach and would worry about my pooch getting a paw hooked. The township recently took away the dog beach because the residents complained so much about dogs beyond the designated area. Many families with small children use the cove because of the calm water. Local dog lovers had to unite to fight to get the privilege to use the beach back. Please follow the rules.

In season the beach can be packed with both people and dogs. In season it is very difficult to find street parking if you don't get there early leaving you with a long walk on hot pavement/sidewalk for paws. There is a very close parking lot that starts charging at 8am, I think $7 last year. Early risers can get in and out before they start to charge. It's a decent sized lot but it does fill up quickly. Please bring some extra baggies and clean up after yourself & your pooch, plenty of waste...

This place was awesome! For all the people saying there was a lot of dog poop and glass, I wouldn’t worry about it..we saw 2 small pieces. the area was super cute and boats would go by. The water was warm, and the only issue was there was dead crabs nearly everywhere along the shoreline, I think it was only an issue because of all the flooding. They were spots that were fine, and it didn’t affect our visit. They had poop bags and lots of garbage bags, as well as a porta potty! They were only 4-5 dogs when we went which were mostly retrievers. All friendly. More dogs showing up later in the afternoon! Parking is free if you park on the street and was a 30 second walk to the beach. Our dog had a great time and was kept on a leash cause she runs off sometimes. They were dogs on retractable leashes and long 20-30 foot leashes which may come in handy..but they were some dogs off the leash but stayed with their owner. Overall, a great place to...

What a find down the Jersey Shore!!! This place is a perfect way to spend the day with your best friend(s)! Very dog friendly with a hydrating station to rinse off your pooch as well as a doggy water fountain. Even doodie bag dispenser too to ensure everyone is responsible for proper dog etiquette. Leashes dogs welcome but as I noticed from the regulars just get a retractable leash or a long lead and you’re good! Then your dog can go out far while you still have control. The beach is a bit rocky so I noticed after a bit my feet and my dogs feet were getting sore. But otherwise, I honestly can’t wait to go back...and I’m sure neither can my dog! Also, down the road within walking distance is Riverside Cafe which is yet another great find and super dog friendly! They even have “Happy Dog Meals!” Overall, an excellent little nook down the...

Nice beach. Free street parking. Limited time parking in the parking lot provided. Multiple areas available for fishing. Nice beach for surfers, fishermen, and your average beach goer. Also a separate beach designated for pets. A decent bathroom, which is more than what most beaches and fishing spots provide. Sometimes it can get noisy because there are a lot of regulars that come here, especially the group resembling the entire cast of The Sopranos. It's hilarious listening to their conversations.

We usually go to Island Beach State Park with our dog, but the wind wasn't cooperating and the flies were terrible so we came to Fisherman's Cove. Dogs were well behaved and owners were responsible. We went on a Tuesday and Wednesday and it wasn't that busy. Make sure you bring a swim leash-- it makes it so much easier. Easy water entry for both dogs and humans. Lots of fun, a good atmosphere, and nice conversations with other dog people.
