Roanoke Maritime Museum — Attraction in Manteo

Such a cute little museum and a great place to get out of the hot sun. It is a free museum with minimal exhibits. If your kiddo likes wooden boats, this has several full scale smaller boats for you to look, see, and touch. It has some cool historical tools and a lovely little guest book.

I also enjoyed the cool water fountain. In the wide open space, allowing the breeze for the day to flow on through. They also had some excellent relaxing chairs in the porch. We enjoyed this spot, and learned a bit about shipbuilding tools, new and old.

I loved being able to walk up into the lighthouse and read about it, just wish we could have climbed it. This is a short one and would have been perfect to test my phobia of heights with. So if you ever get the chance to climb the flight or two of stairs in it and are afriad of heights, its looked like a great stepping stone in the process of getring over/working...

It's not really a museum, but more of a boat workshop with a few boats inside.
