Charis Coffee Company — Restaurant in Manteo

Charis Coffee is one of the highlights of my year. As a believer in Jesus, it gets harder each year to find places that welcome my values and beliefs, let alone share those values. Charis is a place of hope and a sort of haven for family values and the power of prayer. They have a prayer wall where guests are encouraged to write and share prayer requests as well as pray for others on the prayer wall. If a prayer is answered, people mark it with a red heart. It's very powerful to see the people of God crying out to Him and being answered in real time.

Their coffee is fantastic, and they have cruffins, too. I always get the cubano, which is a great small drink that packs a punch of roasty caffeinated goodness. This year, I got a key lime cruffin, which rocked. My wife and I always go on a date to this coffee shop when we're in the OBX, and it's a wonderful place to talk, share our hearts, and plan for the future. We love...

What a great way to start the day! With a VERY tasty Cruffin! (only available on Happy Cruffin Friday's!) And a piping hot cup of house roasted coffee! There is a large variety of specialty coffees, teas and drinks on the menu, as well as muffins, bagels and even ice cream. Grab a coffee mug, T-Shirt or Sweatshirt while you're there! The atmosphere is relaxing, and the staff members are friendly and attentive! The shop is located in the middle of downtown Manteo, just a hop skip and a jump from the Manteo waterfront and all the rest of the quaint little locally owned shops in the area. Don't forget to leave a prayer on the wall of prayers, then come back and draw a red heart on your prayer tag if your prayer is answered ❤️. Highly recommend stopping in to wake up with a fresh brewed cup of coffee and grab a Cruffin if you can, or one of the other many other tasty pastries...

This is probably my favorite coffee shop on the planet for several reasons! The owner’s story and their mission resonates with me, the location with its charming and relaxing character, the friendly staff every time I have visited, and the coffee of course!! This most recent time I ordered a “fresh” French press and was willing to wait for it, and so glad that I did. It was one of the best cups of coffee I have ever had! Also during my most recent visit, one of the owners (Josh) was there and he took the time to talk with me even though they were fairly busy. If you make coffee at home definitely get a bag of their Hallelujah roast if they have it in stock (it goes quick)!!
